I am so sorry about your news. I advise you to contact your Senator ASAP. Also to my understanding, part of the requirements for the Fiance Visa is that you must have seen each other at least once during the past 2 years. You mentioned that you have not visited since 1985. Perhaps I'm misunderstanding, but are you saying that you have not seen your Fiance since 1985?!?!?

Hold your head up, and all the best!

I think she meant she hasn't visited Nigeria since 1985.

I think your is one of the first interviews since the airline issue. I am sure that the Nigerians will be subjected to even more scrutiny during the visa process than ever. It was hard before, now there will be more denials and a lot more examination of the relationship. The immediate reaction will probably be a heavy swing to deny. You are unfortunate to have been caught in this. You didn't meet in Nigeria and neither of set of parents where in Dubai at the time. Lagos can be a disaster when they decide to not issue the visa. There are a number of people that have survived the first rejection and gone on to be reunited. I am not aware of anyone that has been rejected 2 times. It is heart breaking to have planned to start the new year together , but this will make your relationship stronger in the long run. Take a lot of deep breaths, a couple of Tylenol and work toward getting together a whole pile of evidence for a rebuttal , a new petition or both.

This will not be over quickly. You will not enjoy this.

I am so sorry that the interview didn't go well. The Vermont Service Center should give you a chance to give your side. After my 1-129F was sent back to California, I got a RFE for my I-130. One of the things they ask me for was letters from both of my parents.

The letters had to state exactly when my parents knew about my relationship with my husband and if they knew that I was married. They also wanted proof that my husbands parents were aware. This wasn't difficult. I sent letters from both of my parents. I sent pictures with me and his parents and both of us with his parents. I also sent a statement saying that his father had signed our marriage contract (they had a copy of the contract.)

The two of you can overcome this, so do not give up hope. Sometimes, this process takes longer than we wish it would. There is a pinned forum in MENA for returned petitions. Once you get past the first several pages, you should find some very helpful information there. DON'T GIVE UP HOPE and try to keep your chin up!

Here is the pinned link for you.

i doubt this has anything to do with the airplane incident. It is the norm in Nigeria that once u've expressed an interest to marry each other, there has to be some type of meeting with the parents.

that aside, coming from someone whose life almost came to an halt earlier on in the year (my fiance was denied as well), take some time to assimilate what has happened. dont drown in ur sadness. The next step for you to do is figght. Go to Nigeria, meet his parents (and vice versa), take lots of pictures, enjoy the time with ur SO. Then when u come back, U can either start over by filing a new K1 or go get married (K3 or CR-1).

wish u all the best. and may God be with u throught ur journey

I made an a visa appointment/inquiries about me obtaining a Nigerian visa at the US Embassy in Washington, DC. I hope the give me despite the fact Im Nigerian. I think that red flags were raised because I havent visited in Nigeria. I put so much blame on myself because I really feel that all of this could have been avoided. No buts or what ifs but this can tear you up with your significant others. Just woke up. Im going back to work tonight at 11pm EST. Ive stopped crying. I think its an insult because our parents havent met you say this petition is for immigration purposes. Besides love what am I gaininf from this? Well contacted my Senators office which discouraged me simply because shes supporting their decision. I havent visited Nigeria and I havent visited his parents. I will learn from my mistakes and see my SO in April for one month. Its ok. They just disrupted my time not my heart.

Try also your congressmen, they seem to be more helpful and willing to help

I am so sorry, I know how you feel, we also got denied recently, all they said was that our marriage was for immigration purposes. I am also very heart broken but I pray everyday that God will help us. Hang in there. I am in the process of planning a trip to Nigeria. My lawyer said it helps to visit a few times. Best of luck, God bless.

May God help us all waiting for VISA in NIgeria in the wake of the spoilt child that set off another alarm for the red hot US Embassy in Nigeria. I just put all my hopes in God now because any negative outcome can end my life, i already know that. He succeeded in adding terrorist to the scam reputation that has been shameful to the country's image around the world. I feel for you Nwayioma may God ease your pain.

Sorry for your pain, my people have a saying that when an adult holds up what belongs to a child...the adult will drop it when those hands get tired. Go visit your man and get to meet his parents and see that your hubby gets to see your dad before he leaves Nigeria. Happy New Year and all the best!
