I don't know why you assume that profiling doesn't go on in airport security screening. It most certainly does, and not just screening for terrorists.

Because I've read the TSA screening manual (which was recently leaked in its entirety)?

You can rail on about "talking points" all you want but we can all see this woman is trying to "spin" to the point of absurdity.

Not really. There are two issues here: The prevention which demonstrably failed and the response which demonstrably did not fail. The former is under investigation and the latter was discussed in the interview. Why is that so difficult to grasp, Danno?

Because Danno hates Obama which extends to any of his cabinet, even if she was a two term Governor of a very Red state and was well liked among Republicans.

It simply says that an official can't exampt a selectee because of their race/religion blah blah blah. They are profiled in some way in order to become 'selectees' obviously. It doesn't say anything about how selectees are profiled one way or another.

However, I know that they are and so do you although most people are aware of this when it comes to smuggling rather than potential terrorism.

Refusing to use the spellchick!

I have put you on ignore. No really, I have, but you are still ruining my enjoyment of this site. .

Wrong again Steve, I don't hate Obama I even like him as a person, from what I have seen so far he has handled this incident ok, I blame the department which clearly dropped the ball or never had it in the air.

The top person as we can see here is trying to put a happy Face on this where she can instead of taking responsibility for this HUGE security Breach.

It boggles the mind to think this person not only got on a plane after his father warned us but he had a VALID Visa.

I'm concerned for the Fathers life now, wouldn't he be a target now that it's known he "snitched" on his son?

Well, I guess you can order everything you need online these days.

Close but no cigar. What enables me to avoid the mall is the fact that I have a wife that likes to go there. We went to the mall together a few years back and neither one of us enjoyed it. We have since agreed that the mall is for her to go to and for me to stay away from. To keep it fair and balanced, I agreed not to drag her into Lowe's or Best Buy.

Not really. I haven't been to the mall in years and don't really plan on going in the foreseeable future.

Shame, you are missing out on the post Christmas and pre New Year's day sale going on right now. But if you miss it, can always make the New Year's day sale or the pre-Valentine's day sale.

The emergency response when Capt. Sully safely ditched the passenger airline into the Hudson River worked. That was what people responded to in New York, in comparison to some of the failures during the response of 911. That is a huge aspect of the Homeland Security - emergency response. She probably could have said, "the emergency response system worked," but anyone listening to the interview would know what she was referring to.

That's the sobering reality. Although, there is talk of the airlines to begin profiling passengers the way El Al does.

With lack of anything better to do, tend to scrutinized each boarding passenger as a possible terrorists. Last flight, had my doubts about that cute little three year old girl in the pink dress, but she didn't do anything except makes a lot of noise.

Just trying to say with my weird sense of humor, don't depend on anyone to protect you, plan on protecting yourself and family if aboard. Still a mystery to me how only five terrorist were able to take over an entire plane load of people. If I were aboard that flight at least some of them would have snapped necks. My government taught me how to do that. But we do know now, that your death is eminent if they are aboard, and really hate to just sit there in fear and hoping for the best. See someone else aboard that flight had the same philosophy. Heroic? Hell no, survival is more like it.

Unless you detail search every passenger and every piece of luggage (something that doesn't happen for obvious, logistical reasons), you kind of have to accept that this sort of thing is bound to happen from time to time.

More than likely, we will spend a trillion dollars to beef up that Dutch airport like we did at Toronto. To really make hauling your luggage and waiting in huge long lines just to cross that border. Really doubt if a terrorist would attempt to cross there anyway with a much easier 3,500 miles of unprotected border. Won't be fear of getting caught but would add hours to their trip just to go through all that hassle.

Can't believe the millions of dollars that were spend on all of our local airports with high chain link fences by Homeland Security when we could have used a couple of bucks to update some pretty ancient navigation equipment. They must of feared some terrorist in a hang glider would go crashing into the side of the Sears Tower.

I certainly appreciate Homeland Security doubling the size of our police force, I feel very protected when driving 19 mph in a 20 mph zone with some fear of getting a speeding ticket. That's really all our police department knows how to do.
