GETTING TEXAS ID BASED ON AOS K1

My husband and I were so disappointed that the other lady onduty today has not permitted me to get my Texas Id the fact that I have all the vital papers theyve asked from me the first time: marriage license and changed name social security number. She said that I-94 should be 6 months to 1 year valid prior filing for Texas ID...wooooooot????! K1 is only good for 3 months.

Has anyone experienced same situation that im into right now. What should i do and expect from the Texas ID/Driver's licensing office?

Unfortunately there is nothing you can do right now. That's the TX state law.

Wait until you file for AOS/EAD. When you get the EAD you can go back and get your TX DL/ID. The EAD is valid for 1 year.

Yes - as stated above, you'll need either the EAD or PR/Green Card to obtain either a Texas I.D. or Driver's License. This is becoming more and more common in the US (some states vary).

Gee, then I just have to wait till I'll receive my AOS/EAD done ...*shrug *..Thank you for the info , guys! well appreciated.

Just FYI-if you get your DL using only your EAD, you will receive a license that says "TEMPORARY VISITOR". If you wait until you have your GC, you will get a regular one.

More and More States are adopting this process.

Watch out for 'the lady' though - behind the counter - Rarely will 'she' know as much as whats posted on a 'gov website'. Study them gov websites...

...Obviously, theres inconsistency with their policies, the lady knows well. But she just cant argue much but to stick to that "lame" policy statements .

Is there a case where I'll receive both the EAD and AOS approval time??

I know if il get my DL right away using my EAD, il still have to retake drivers test to acquire a regular drivers license,am i right?

there's a written test and a drivers test.

if you get DL with an EAD, you came renew it with showing the GC - no New Test required.

According to the Texas DMV website (so maybe not necessarily in practice) you can get an ID/DL once you get the receipt notice for the green card.
