Hi,

I just checked on the USCIS website and unless I misunderstood the information it states that a permanent citizen that falls under category 2A ( a mother who is currently a permanent citizen of the US and has an under the age of 21 child in China ) who filed a form I-130 has to wait at least 5 years+ from the start of the process to when the child actually arrives in the US.

Is anyone else in the same boat and did I misunderstand?

what do you mean by permanent citizen? UScitizen?but if a UScitizen parent petitions her daughter that is over 21 yrs old... it could be longer than 5 years...

Is your friend a permanent resident (green card holder) or US citizen? You weren't clear in your other post as to her status.

CITIZEN, is immediate for under 21 age child - paperwork process takes about 5 to 11 months for an I-130.

Permanent Resident - 3 to 5 years, depending on priority date stuff.

There is no 'permanent citizen' category.
