Hello & an early Happy New Year to all!

My husband and I are currently filling out the form I-864 & I am stuck on the answer to one question in particular. Part 5 of the form part G. (optional) If you have siblings, parents, or adult children with the same principal residence who are combining their income with yours by submitting form I-864A enter the number below (this is in relation to counting our household size)

My father is filing form I-864A as he is also sponsoring my husband

I live in Finland temporarily with my husband (as we wait out this process) but my home address back in the states is the same as my fathers so technically we do have the same principal residence.

Do I count my father?

I know it says Optional but I guess it helps if the case is that yes my father does have the same principal residence as I do and he is also sponsoring my husband and we count him.

I just want to be absolutely sure and the directions for this part are more related to the spouse & skip details on this optional G. part. :help:

A thank you ahead of time for anyone who can help with this.

If it makes it easier, add him in (on that line) and make sure you exceed the poverty limit given the household size with him included. If so you have qualified regardless and there is no need to worry with him added. Always disclose and in this case as long as you meet the poverty limit requirement with the household size then.. :).

Hang in there... Every day is one step closer!

My responses are derived from personal experiences and from the knowledge I have gained from others over time. I do my best but on occasion I could be wrong. Be warned! I am not a lawyer, I am an Engineer!

First, please note the I-864 is not used for a K3 visa. Are you sure this should not be in the CR1 forum instead?

If you and your father share the same principle residence and you ARE combining your incomes to qualify, then yes, add him to the combined household size. On the other hand, if he qualifies on his own, you could each file an I-864. Then HIS household size would not include you. Either is ok, so pick the one that works best.
