Hello Everyone experienced with USICS formalities,

There is a one digit diffenerce in my Alien # on the NOA2 and on the actual K-1 visa in my passport. Maybe they entered it incorrectly at the US consulate. The correct one to put down on the AOS forms would be the the one on the NOA2 yes?

Thanks

It's not actually your alien number, its your case number. Your alien number is given to you at the POE. My guy at border patrol wrote it down for me off some form.

If you're concerned I would send them an email about it. It's not good that your visa details are wrong, you're supposed to check it and get it fixed before leaving (if possible)... though to be honest i probably wouldn't have thought to check the number. Anyway, like I said, my alien number was written on my I-94 page of my passport... you shouldn't have an alien number until you're actually approved and in the states (hence POE).]

Hope that helps :D

Okay, I'm kinda wrong. It IS on my passport but under "annotation".. lol. Never noticed that before. Was that the number you were talking about?

What I meant about nothing till POE or approved was that it shouldn't be on your NOA2. But then I never really paid lots of attention to my NOA2 except for the number starting with SYD.

Hey Vanessa, good to see you back here on VJ.

On the NOA2 (I-797, Notice of Action) - the form your fiance received before your case went to the NVC. You got the SYD number when he received the letter from the NVC. Under beneficiary there is a number that starts with A*** *** *** (and then 9 digits) and then your name. I thought this was your Alien Number.

On your actual K-1 Visa in your passport yes it is the one under annotation. I was told that this was my A # at POE although there is nothing written on my I-94 form.

Can you see if these two numers are the same on your documentation?

Would anyone else know if they are supposed to be the same??? IS the A # 9 numbers not including the A?

This is all driving me a bit round the bend... :bonk:

Okay! Yes it IS the same. So the annotation number on my visa, the number that the dude at POE wrote in my passport, and the number on the NOA2 under beneficiary are ALL the same. :D So woot :D

And yes, the alien number is the number minus the A :)

Oh and thank you for the welcome back to VJ. I actually am usually on either of these threads:

Thanks for taking a look at that! :star:

So it looks like some wally at the Sydney Consulate just typed in one number wrong (all the others were identical). Very confusing when you are looking at mountains of paperwork and something as little as one number out of sequence doesn't add up!

I am about to send in the AOS paperwork for my fiancee who is from Poland. However I noticed that on her actual K-1 Visa in her passport, right at the bottom there is a section where it states the following:

"PET (and my name)

A# (a 9 digit number but this is actually MY A # as I am originally an immigrant myself who is now a US Citizen)

CITY, STATE (name of my city and state in the US)"

There is no A # written on her I-94 card that is stapled in her passport. For the AOS paperwork, I was going to use the A # that I see assigned to her in the I-797 letter (NOA2 letter) as it clearly shows an A # next to my name (for Petitioner) and a A # for her (for Beneficiary)

Yes all this is confusing indeed. I am just hoping that since we are required to send a copy of the visa AND the NOA2 letter anyways, the USCIS will figure out what is what.
