It was a general comment. My point really was, even if that is true (and, the complication being that there is no knowing how long birth rates in other countries will continue to rise, nor which, if any religious community will continue to dominate the cultures of these communities) does it matter? As long as a religious community does not suppress those who do not belong to it, it really does not matter what the 'dominant' religion in a region/community is, does it?

I just found it interesting that the indegenous population birth rate in most western countries is in decline while in those same countries the Muslin birth rate is increasing, more so than any other religous sect. According the the study the Muslim faith will be the the dominate influence world wide over the next several decades.

How is some forced service going to engender more loyalty to America? It will either end up as some joke of make work projects or having a lot of temporary troops waiting to get out of uniform. You are right about the fall of Roman Empire but the Romans also ended up with a lot Germanic tribesmen in their army doing the fighting while the rest of Rome got soft and weak.

First generation immigrants may have ties to their nations but the second generation is usually assimilated.

you are right, the service, if trivial, it would be a failure. well, if not forced service, then at least outlaw dual citizenship. i see dual citizenship as an unfair escape route. if they want US citizenship, there should be a "choice" factor.

As far as the US is concerned, US citizenship is exclusive, it's the 'other country' choice as to whether to continue to recognize citizenship ;)

My question is still, so what? Personally, I don't care which wonky faith is dominating as they all subscribe to irrational thinking.

but, honey, there are "degrees" of irrational thinking.

That's wonky thinking. Religion is irrational, I don't play favourites with it.

Oh good grief, is this honey/babe stuff meant to be funny or annoying? It's just stupid.

A-ha... do that, and who will your immigrants be? Many from EU/Australia/UK?

You'll get only the ones who come from horrible places or are incapable of commitment to a country at all. Is that what you were hoping for?

dual citizenship should be outlawed.

the only thing i have to say about people who look at muslims in a bad way is to look at indonesia.... very moderate. 230 million of them, mostly muslim, and they aren't focused on making bombs.

Maybe but not every religion motivates a few people to do irrational acts on a regular basis in several countries currently. I also wouldn't want militantly secular state trying to suppress all religions in the name being even-handed in the pursuit of community harmony.

It's interesting... i hear what you are saying...

i don't know if it is a manifestation of Islam per se, or just the countries in which Islam is the fastest growing...

i used to collect data for the UN (please don't hold it against me)... and it was interesting because families in Europe had 1, 2, 3 children. While families in Africa had 6, 7, 8 + children. These were not necessarily Islamic nations, but African nations. i'm speaking generally, of course.

Every religion does. What you are trying to say is that only Muslims become extremist terrorists. You are wrong.
