When I sent in the I-130 petition for my husband back in March my husband was living in another state for work (in Egypt) but now has moved back to his family's home. I have both addresses listed on the I-130 but his work address was listed as his contact address. Should I contact the USCIS office in California to notify them or wait until it gets to NVC? The petition was approved on July 14 (alhamdulillah!) and should be sent to NVC. Help! :help:

My wife is moving as well and I was told to wait until it gets to the NVC.

Mrs. Z,

You and your husband will soon be sent a DS-3032 Choice of Address and Agent form by the NVC.

Wait until it is received at NVC. At that time, you can email NVC (NVCINQUIRY@state.gov) about the new address.

Thanks guys!

Yodrak,

Will I get a notice that the I-130 was received at the NVC and if so, how long does it usually take? If they send him a choice of address and agent form won't they send it to his address on the petition?

Thanks!

Mrs. Z,

I assume you are the US citizen petitioner. I did not get any notice when it was received at the NVC. You can keep calling (or email) NVC and find out, if it is received or not. You will need your USCIS receipt number for any communication. First NVC will enter the case into its computer system, then a case number will be assigned. After approximately 1-2 week of assigning a case number, DS 3032 (choice of agent) and AOS Fee Bill will be generated.

About Choice of Agent: Your husband (the beneficiary) should assign you as his choice of agent to receive further correspondence from NVC. In that case, NVC will mail all your paperwork to your US address rather than in Egypt. As soon as the choice of agent form (DS 3032) and AOS Fee Bill generated, your husband can email NVC with a request to appoint you as his choice of agent. You can concentrate on choice of agent stuff once a case number is assigned.

Do not worry about your husband's new address. Just email NVC about the change of address, after NVC assigns a case number and subsequently NVC will update the new address.

I-130 Timeline with USCIS:

It took 92 days for I-130 to get approved from the filing date

NVC Process of I-130:

It took 78 days to complete the NVC process

Interview Process at The U.S. Embassy

Interview took 223 days from the I-130 filing date. Immigrant Visa was issued right after the interview

Mrs. Z,

You and your husband will each be sent the DS-3032, at least my wife and I were. Not sure how long it's taking these days - maybe a week or two, maybe a month.

Decide between the two of you to whom and where you want subsequent mailings to go. You will receive the mailings for the I-864 in any case.

Look here for a good overview. http://travel.state.gov/visa/immigrants/ty...types_1309.html
