Detroit, once the Model city now a grave yard.

I remember being in Detroit as a kid in the early 1960's. My dad's best friend lived there. He lived in a large, beautifully manicured home in a lush, upper class neighborhood. That was always my fabulous vision of Detroit, and, although it's been decades since I've been back, it breaks my heart to see what's happened to it.

As far as Baltimore goes, as a former Maryland resident with two kids living in Columbia and working in Baltimore, that city's decline hits home and concerns me greatly. It, too, is a great city going bad, but one thing that both Detroit and Baltimore have in common (along with DC) is long-term, corrupt, liberal Democrat rule. That should tell us something.

You're right. There should only be one party, conservative Republicans. They'd have everything fixed and running smoothly in no time without spending a dime.

The guy in the video made a great point, "Soon, all of America can be just like this!"

Is this the change folks were hoping for?

I doubt it. Any city with a heavy industrial base that has yet to diversify into other industries will definitely be in trouble.

Now, Now... long term, corrupt, conservative, Republicans are no better than long-term, corrupt, liberal Democrats...neither party has a lock this...

If I had my choice though, I would prefer the long-term, corrupt, liberal Democrats as then I would not have to worry about having religion crammed down my throat... and freedom from that, is well worth all the rest of the troubles.

airport sux too ....

Brother Bump...did you ever fly out of the international terminal in DTW? It was opened half decade or so ago and I flew out of it constantly. It is TOP NOTCH!

...the rest of the airport ...but I believe they're now renovating that as well...

We certainly aren't hoping for this kind of change but I think this will be a -repeat performance around the country as the tax base abandons certain regions.

This hits the nail on the head. Detroit might not be able to rebuild because of the flight of people out of the city over the past decades. They simply don't have the property taxes etc coming in which would fuel 'repair' of the city.

Yeah I agree, I mean who wants Religion crammed down their throats right here in the US of A?

So glad we are past those dark days, the stories my parents tell are scary.

There's another aspect people are not mentioning in this story

OUTSOURCING.

Under the so called labor cost, most of the mfg started to go overseas and that means those jobs are not longer there, and they are not coming back.

I can almost see the same thing happening to the sillicon valley as more and more companies are outsourcing high paying jobs, then everybody will come back and pointing fingers at the union, the people, hmmm i forgot there's no union here in the sillicon valley high tech sector.

Here's a question to you folks

When I was in the market to buy a Car 7 years ago, I took really care to check where it was built, Even though my car is a Toyota Camry but it was build in the Good ol USA.

A colleague of mine, typical hard core republican, Repulican can't do no wrong and has never done anything wrong to this country. He's driving a Buick which was made in Canada and another car that was made in Mexico, both cares were build out of the country,

We used to have friendly chit chat about which one of the cars are AMERICAN.

He's always saying you have to see where the overall profit is going.

We live in a global economy where it's all about the shareholders, DO I CARE IF I PUT MORE MONEY INTO SOME CEO POCKET

Or Do I CARE ABOUT A FELLOW AMERICAN GETTING A JOB RIGHT HERE IN THE US< EVEN THOUGH THE COMPANY IS JAPANESE.

One of my uncle worked as an Automotive engineer for Honda in Jersey for 32 years before he retired a few years ago, I don't care less about the brand, i care more about where the car is made.

Anybody else is noticing, i am seeing more and more product at least from the industrial front coming with Made in USA label with a tiny american flag logo, I hope we can see more of that.
