It's been 3 months for us and still no sign of the NOA2.

If you filed for the CR-1/IR-1 -- how long did yours take? Just so that those of us waiting can garner some hope on specific days.

Such as Day 91. Or Day 120.

Ours took 63 days from NOA1 to NOA2. Based on the average processing times on the USCIS website, which was 5 months at the time I filed in June, I "filed and forgot" and mentally prepared myself to wait five months before expecting NOA2. I was pleasantly surprised to receive it much earlier.

However, I have to warn you, and anyone else waiting for NOA2 - that wait is the easy part. The NVC process from NOA2 to case complete took us 83 days, and another month before the interview. We're still on a decent time span from submission to visa-in-hand (a little over 6 months), but it's not just the time that NVC takes, it's the number of little "mini waiting periods."

From NOA1-NOA2, you're just waiting for one thing. In NVC, you're waiting for so many things, submitting so many things after other things are received/completed, it's a real roller coaster ride that requires constant daily vigilance. Based on the what I read in the guides, I mentally prepared for a fast ride through NVC (expectation of around 30 days), but my actually experience was much different, and I wasn't mentally prepared for that. I will say the NVC process definitely taught me the importance of patience, it's just something you have to remind yourself about daily during the entire process.

Good luck, and I hope you and everyone waiting on NOA2 get some good news soon.

10 fricken months? Are you kidding me? Did you ever find out why it took THAT long?

I'm getting real antsy.

We applied during the infamous 2007 backlog - our NOA1 took 90 days alone- which was the worst bit as far as I remember because at that point we didn't know for 90 days if they had even received the package.

Our file sat at the Vermont office for 10 months untouched - they then said they were sending it to the California center because there was a backlog at Vermont and at that point it took California less than 2 weeks to approve it.

The pain of the wait is fading to a distant memory now - a bit like childbirth - but I was angry for a long time that no one even glanced at our file for ten months. I think you are all very lucky to be filing at a quieter time.

I called the USCIS last week and asked them about the processing times, and when I should recieve the NOA2... They told me that it takes 5 months to get the approval or NOA2.. :( is this correct? I thought that it was 5 months to go through the whole process.. <just shows how naieve I am> But if it took 5 months to get a NOA2.. then the case is sent to VSC and then that is where it moves more quickly.. I am thinking 2-3 months after the NOA2... Is my thinking correct? PLZ PLZ correct me if I am wrong <fingers crossed hoping I am>

Can take up to or longer than 5 months to receive NOA2 and then it gets sent to NVC for processing.

NVC stage depends on you how long it will take. If you have all paperwork ready for NVC it could take 1 month to complete but if you aren't prepared it could take longer.

Our NOA2 took 37 days, and it took less than four months from the NOA1 date to the day my hubby got his visa (117 days?). No haters!!!!! It only went fast because of the awesome people and advice on VJ!!!!!

Our timeline:

2/88: We met in Sydney, Australia at a youth hostel! He's Finnish, I'm American-both were in our early 20s at the time and fresh out of college (so couldn't afford to visit each other's countries after that!). We had a three-day romance, then went our separate ways. He actually was going to Sydney a week later, but decided at the last minute to cut his trip short in another country and go early. Wow.

1988-1998: Wrote "snail mail" letters/sent Xmas cards, but lived our separate lives. I married someone else, divorced in 2006...he lived with someone for years and then that ended.

10/08: Because of a series of random life events, I Googled my Finn Man and found him (but no link to his email, and the website his name was on was in Estonian so I couldn't even read it!). It took me two weeks to find a link to someone else, who forwarded my email to him (we were both single at the time thankfully!!!!). The email went to his spam folder but he happened to check it that day and responded back to me immediately! This was after 10 years of no contact and almost 21 years of not seeing each other after we first met.

11/08-5/09: We traveled back and forth to visit each other. Love at first (second?) sight!

7/09: Married in Helsinki, Finland...after meeting randomly 21 1/2 years ago and finding each other again!!!!!

8/13/09: I-130 sent!!!!!!!!!

Rest is on my timeline!
