I know creepy right?

Anyways happy Tuesday all!

We're almost to a whole new decade with 2010!

We have a family book and my name is Kelly and its in there :) lol

All kidding aside, some of my niece and nephews in Jordan names are Damiana (which is british i think) Neveah(which is def not arab) etc. Alot of the christian peoples are named things like Mike and George, they still do family books. I dont think what the name is has any affect whatsoever. Could be wrong tho.

Today ends my stretch of having 6 days off work. I work tomorrow and thursday, off friday, then have to work Saturday and Sunday, which is a royal bummer. Im not looking forward to it at all.

morocco does things a little differently.

there are berber names that are unaccepted as well, not just "western" ones. the claim is that some of those berber names that were not accepted were "insulting" either to islam, arabic culture, the monarchy, etc. but that claim doesn't hold up. there were plenty of completely benign berber names rejected too.

Thank you Kenza! I think that we've settled on the name Ayman. I don't know about a middle name yet. His parents acted like we were crazy for giving Mehdi two names. Are the younger generations of Moroccans giving their babies a first and middle name?

I LOVE your taste in names! That's a good question about the middle names. Although I remember when I was in Morocco getting my marriage certificate and looking to get a Moroccan passport, they looked at me weird for having Irene as my middle name.

My new girl cousin is named Lillya (Leeleeya) which isn't Moroccan I don't think...

Lillya is a beautiful name Moroccan or not!

I don't see what the big deal is for giving two names as long as they are both on the approved list.

Oh Lillya is a great name! (I liked Ayman too!) There are so many I've never heard of. I ended up going to one of those baby name websites...can you tell we want kids as soon as possible after he gets here? LOL! Well anyway, all the names I picked out that were Arabic, he wasn't familiar with. Wouldn't you know?!! I was trying to pick some that we could also shorten up as a nickname too. My favorite for a girl was Caliana, which my husband didn't know at all so I think we'll have some great discussions when the time comes. Although we know when we have a boy that he will be named after my husband's father, so that one is easy.

Congrats!!

Adam doesn't have a middle name. When we were discussing middle names, Wadi asked me their purpose and I didn't have a good answer. I suppose they are to help distnguish when people have the same first and last names. People seem to think it's rather strange that we didn't give him a middle name, but that's ok...we are strange. :energy:
