Hi,

I am a Canadian citizen living in the US with an H1B visa. I recently got married and am getting everything ready to file my AOS. HOPEFULLY you will be able to help answer a question I have about the I-485 form?!

In part 3, processing info, I have 3 questions that I'm not sure how to answer:

1. Nonimmigrant visa number: What do I put here?? Is it my EAC number?? I have an I-94 form and I-797, is it a number that I find on one of these??!!

2. Consulate where visa was issued????

3. Date visa was issued: What do I put here?? Is it the date that I last entered the US (a few months ago), or the date when the H1B visa first began (about 2 years ago)???

Thanks in advance for your help!!!! Once I can figure this out I'll be ready to file!!

I'm not sure if the H1B's are any different from other visas but if not (like you get a stamp in your passport) all the info for these questions would be on the visa itself. The visa numbers are in red. I believe on your I-94 it should say it somewhere too. The consulate would be wherever the visa was actually issued to you, Montreal vancouver etc. It should say this on your visa again. The date it was issued would also be on there.

Hi ll80. Welcome to VJ. :)

As Danu says, all the information is on the visa itself. Couldn't find a pic of an H1-B visa, specifically, but you may find this one helpful:

Visa Pic

I'm going to move your thread from the Canada forum to the AOS From Other Visa forum. You'll find lots of other members in there going through the same scenario. Please feel free to come back to the Canada forum for country-specific information and chat. There are a really great bunch of people here. :)

1) Non-immigrant visa number is on the visa itself. EAC is NOT a visa number but the original petition case number that was filed before you received the actual visa

2) Location of the US Embassy/Consulate that issued the visa. Look on the visa for "Issuing Post".

3) The date the visa was issued... should be listed on the visa itself under "Issue Date"
