Wow! Looks like I have a long road ahead of me if i want to get my girlfriend over here. She is in the Ukraine, We talk all the time on yahoo messenger webcam. We are in love. We have been talking now for about 2 months straight every night for 3-6 hours. I never thought I could fall in love with some over 7000 miles away. I am a USA Citizen. Born and raised in VA. I am going to visit her in January (about 2 weeks) What is my first step? second step... so on. And me moving there is not entirely out of the question. I just want to be with her. How do I do it, and what proof etc do i need.?

Hi and welcome to VJ. What your next steps are, completely depend on what you are planning on doing. If you are just wanting your gf to move here, to live with you, your journey will be a long and possibly difficult one, unless you are planning on getting married. The best place to start are to read the guides above and decide what you are going to do.

Ask plenty of questions and research, research, research.

If you choose to bring your girlfriend to the US and get married, K-1 visa would be the best way.

The guides on VJ is pretty helpful!

Your first steps should be getting to know her very well and give enough time to make sure you're taking the right step with immigration, as there's a lot of responsibilities involved in this and a lot of headache if things don't go so well down the road.

Glad to see you made your way over here. :)

This place is full of wonderful people and wonderful advice. I'm sure that you'll find every answer to your questions, and hopefully make some friends here too.

If you're going to go any route I think that your best bet would be the K-1. You haven't really known each other all that long and a K-1 visa would give you time to get to know one another better, get some trips in for your evidence and also gives you 90 days after she's been approved. I don't think that people should use the visa for the purpose of "testing the waters" during those 90 days, but it DOES help a bit.

For now, concentrate on your upcoming visit and make sure to save everything and take lots and lots of pictures!!!

Welcome to VJ!!!
