Hey Everyone,

I have a quick question regarding the Affidavit of Support. I am a Canadian who has F-1 status and am currently finishing up my OPT. My wife is a U.S citizen. We are filing for AOS, but have come across an issue with the I-864. She is a self-employed chiropractor who has recently opened her own practice after graduating from school. She cannot provide tax returns from the business because it has been open for less than a year. Since she cannot provide the Affidavit (although she will easily reach the requirments financially), we have decided to use her father. Do both she and her father have to complete I-864s? Does she file one on behalf of herself (without tax returns) and have her father complete one as the Joint Sponsor, or would we have him complete the only I-864? I am just a little confused on this section of the process.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

the first one is correct.

as a sponsor she has to file an i864 and her father another i864 as a joint sponsor.

Excellent!

So I will have each of them complete the I864s. Thanks for the quick reply!
