AOS Timeline:
March 23, 2010 - Mailed I-485 (AOS), I-131 (AP), I-765 (EAD)
June 7, 2010 - AP received
June 12, 2010 - EAD received
August 27, 2010 - 2 yr Green Card Received!


K-1 Timeline:
April 22, 2009 - I-129F Sent
November 20, 2009 - Interview in Montreal - Approved!
January 3, 2010 - POE (Ambassador Bridge)
January 20, 2010 - Wedding

They did ask me about our car, he also told me - either import it right now - or you are not taking it in. This wasn't some young untrained officer either, this was the senior guy who was training someone on how to enter the IR visa info.

This is just like visiting - it's up to the Border person on the day.

Yeah, that's scary to me that they would insist on importing the car. Presumably the officer would insist on that only if as the immigrant you own the car.

When I took it to customs in Boston yesterday, they knew what date I crossed, and asked if that is when I brought the car over (yes), but the form just reflected the entry date and the import date.

If the car comes over with someone else, I suppose it could be "goods not accompanying" (i don't know the form for this). That just seems trickier than self-import after POE.

Yes, my comment was only in relation to when you cross the border and intend to import your car, as Tina and Roland mentioned, they weren't even asked and they wanted to import it - it was an aside to Ashen's situation :)
