Just a quick question about the DS-130 form. I am American and my wife is Thai, we live together with our 1 year old son in Thailand.

My son was born in Thailand but has dual citizenship, i.e, birth certificate, US & Thai passports. Do I need to fill out a DS-130 for him too?

It does say in the instructions "complete one copy of this form for yourself and each member of your family regardless of age who will immigrate with you." I am thinking this is not applicable for him as he is has a US passport although he has never been to the US, I wouldn't consider him immigrating.

I think you mean DS-230. The answer is no. If he has a US passport he is good to go.

Done for 3 years or 10 years. Haven't decided yet.

(I'm going for the IR-1 and blowing off the K-3. Even if it takes an extra couple months, it's worth it to not have to deal with USCIS again)

Note:

Please fill out I-130, wait 6 months for approval, then 3 more months for an interview. (Unless of course we've bombed your country into the stone age, then you qualify for expedited processing.)

Welcome to the USA!!!

My bad... I did mean DS-230... probably mixed up with the I-130. That's what I expected, but it seems there is never a dumb question when filling out these forms.

Just out of curiosity. After submitting the petition to USCIS I was told that, if approved (which it was), to expect a 'package' in the mail. Instead, I received a letter last week saying that all of the required documents can be downloaded from the Immigration Visa section of the American Embassy website. Should I expect an actual package or just go ahead and download everything as I've already done??????

Stay tuned for more questions the deeper I get into this.

No, that was 'your package'.

Just that letter.

Sorry.

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !
Ya know, you can find the answer to your question with the advanced search tool, when using a PC? Ditch the handphone, come back later on a PC, and try again.

Yeah seems lately they are not sending out packet 3. Need to go to the embassy website and download them here:

Are you sticking with the K-3? Kind of an outdated visa.
