U B Hatin' on the French again, Pooky?? :ranting::protest:

As you view and listen to this video (complete with unidentified VJ member doing an "interpretive dance"),

keep in mind that the French TGV world-record train was driven by 3 accountants with 2 lawyers on board

to verify the world record. Where is Casey Jones when we need him?

You certainly better fasten your seat belts if that high speed train was made in China. And hope your seat belts weren't made in China.

I've Taken the TVA France

Shenkenzen ( Japan)

It's pretty cool to ride them, it's actually a smoother ride than your regular train or even your drive.

YOu don't even realize you are going fast, one way to check that is by looking at those light poles on the rail

When learning how to drive, they would tell you to look one fixed point ahead of yah, and say

One mississipi if you already go past that point you know you are going too fast beside watching the speedometer

wow wow wow

Every one of those light poles come one after the other like watching an animation or when flipping some pages

foom foom foom, it's a great experience, a little bit pricy but well worth the ride.

Sad there's NOT ONE high speed link in the us, California is trying to set up one but guess who was lobbying against it " THE AIRLINES INDUSTRY"

Some basics infrastruction should not be open to that kinda of political BS. At that rate it's just a matter of time before we go down as a developing nation, because most developing countries now have already passed us in infrastructure.

While in Yokkaichi Japan, the biggest city nearby is Nagoya I was getting over 10MBS internet speet at the hotel, at a friend's house in Kawasaki closed to Tokyo i was getting close to 20MBS, here in the sillicon valley, they are charging you an arm and a leg just for basic internet

$25 amonth just for 1MBS and they consider that ####### as high speed.

From what I've read, in the US and UK they attempted to set up high-speed rail (see Acela between NY and DC) on EXISTING track with modifications.

Japan, France, Germany and the Chinese did it right - everything engineered from scratch.

Simple engineering will tell you that putting high speed in existing roadbeds is a disaster because

the roadbed is not prepared properly (from scratch) and there are too many twists and turns

(high speed requires a straighter route).

Bad combination

It's like trying to build another NYC subway system it's crazy, you have to start from scratch.

Putting high-speed rail on top of the NYC subways might be doable - it will float about

25 feet above the subway through levitation done by a part-time magician.

I think that would be a full-time job.

Nope, NYC budget wouldn't allow it - no matter if it's not feasible.

They would dictate part-timers with little/no benefits & seniority -

it's not about making things work, it's about the bureaucracy.
