I can get the home page in Internet Explorer but not Google Chrome

Error:

Chrome is notoriously buggy. It's nice to play with, but not an everyday browser yet.

Chrome is definitely usable as an every-day browser.

If you don't expect too much from it, yes, perhaps. However, it is lacking in many areas and is quite buggy. Firefox is still a better choice than Chrome, just in terms of available add-ons.

I'm using Chrome, and can get to the front page.

Chrome is definitely usable as an every-day browser. Any bugginess is going to be when hitting non-standards compliant websites.

Try clearing out your cache and VJ cookies, see if that helps.

Thanks, it came back after I cleared the cache.

I guess that means too much "internet abuse" on VJ

Have to make that my New Year's resolution...but with her POE in 3 days

I will have much better things to do :innocent:

I did use Firefox on my previous PC but thought I'd try out chrome.

I was impressed by the level of spam blocking in my gmail account so I thought I'd give it a try.

I'll check out the Mozilla folks again.

Thanks

I'm using Flock(mozilla based) and it's pretty neat.

Having the same issue with Chrome though. Clearing the cache worked for me too.

No problems with Chrome on VJ. It is buggy though, especially if you leave the dns prefetch on, with some online applications. It tends to overload the cache and gaming is slow in full screen mode.

There does seem to be an issue with the search feature on VJ when you use Chrome. Many times it claims that you have previously requested a search w/in the last 30 seconds even if you haven't explicitly done so.

Is that what that was? Every time I looked for somebody's posts, I got hit with the admin flood control.

It's a known issue when using Chrome. It has been discussed in more detail with some actual workarounds here.

This seems to be an issue with any forum site that uses IP Board software.

Turning off the dns prefetch seems to resolve that issue, not to mention makes Chrome run so much faster!

Makes sense. Pairing Chrome w/ Google Public DNS may overcome whatever performance loss you encounter when turning off the prefetch in Chrome. I can't quantify how helpful this pairing will be, but Google claims to have implemented some "experimental" prefetching algorithm(s) in their public DNS.
