Hi all,

I have a lot of diapers, baby clothes, maternity clothes that I'm not going to use as baby arrived much bigger than expected. I wanted to donate to Birth Right, but I can't find one in my area... Anyone know of other alternatives where I can drop off the stuff?

Thanks!

Make a complete list of what you are donating as well. If you donate to a charity you can claim it as an exemption on your income taxes - always a nice bonus, especially when times are tough.

Thanks!

It's not really a lot of stuff... just a few things. I'm trying to return to non-pregnant life and clean up the house and start up again... so a little pre-pre spring cleaning.

AHZ - Some Catholic churches in your area might have what they call "The Gabriel Project". It is a program where the Church helps single mothers in need who have decided to keep their baby instead of having an abortion. The Church normally will help with donations of clothing, baby supplies, etc. Might want to give your closest parish (church not county) a call.

I'm with Len - you're teh awesome!!!

When babysitting my granddaughter, been tossing her diapers, does anyone really want those things? Just kidding.

We have a St. Vincent De Paul in town, will even give you a receipt for your donations, but probably not worth fooling with, especially if you use the standard deduction. I gave them two rooms full of furniture last year, they came and picked it up, was just happy I didn't have to pay a recycling and moving charge. But they got a good price for it.

Also like going there and the Good Will in town. Found a classic Technics turntable that cosmetically was in very good condition, just needed some LTC care and a touch with my soldering iron, got it for five bucks. Also found a nice condition hose for my mom's old vacuum cleaner for a buck. See those Salvation Army pots in front of every store in town, but have no idea where their store is at, not in the phone book.

Since I'm an advisor of a high school chapter, I highly recommend St. Vincent de Paul Society. Not the store, but the church-affiliated society. They are non-discriminatory, so don't worry that they'll only help out Catholics  They also work with refugees and shelters to help women get back on their feet and rely solely on donations.
