According to the instructions on page 5, photocopies are ok...except for arrest reports, court dispositions, sentencing,..etc.

Hi Sand,

Ok....Here is a fast 1 answer for you and other vjers, before I log off for the day.....

Photocopies for everything that you send to the USCIS is perfectly acceptable.

In fact, this is even preferred, as whatever you send to the USCIS, they are going to keep, and not return to you.

Nevertheless, bring the originals to the interview when you meet with them in-person, in case they want to see such to verify the photocopies against the originals. For example, if they want to check the originals of passports, green cards, tax papers, bills, bank statements, marriage certificates, etc.

The only exception to the rule are court-related paperwork, in which they want the originals to be sent in, and that they have to be court-certified (and yes, they do check for that too).

Divorce papers are certainly court ordered papers, wouldn't dare send in the originals of those, especially if you have to pay a small fortune for duplicates. We just sent in copies and took in the originals. Hard to tell if your IO would even want to bother looking at the originals, depends greatly on what side of the bed they got up on that morning.

LooL good one, i have to agree with u, let me tell u a lil story long time ago when i had to go for my Visa Interview, so we were in a line outside of the embassy, waiting for them to tell us to get in, well here's a lady on front of me and she was the first one on the line too, i was the second one. well when they opened the door for us to get in. she got nervous and asked me to go first lol. and because i was first one i dint get my visa that day, and i got a such hard time with the consul. ASKED ME FOR MORE PAPERS lol.. thats why i dont like to be interviewed on the Morning. the best time to be interviewed is, before their Lunch in 10 minutes. they in a hurry wants to finish fast to go for their Lunch lol
