I think I just heard the news say they didnt tell Obama for 3 hours bcz they had to get the facts straight first and at first they thought it was just firecrackers on the plane...

Hmm, I wonder even if firecrackers were set off on the plane, wouldnt that be an issue as well to security and to peoples lives??? Lame excuse if you ask me!

A definition: terror - panic: an overwhelming feeling of fear and anxiety

One does not need to kill to be successful in terrorism, they simply need to achieve the above. This clown did just that, because many international government agencies are now spinning on countermeasures. Not to mention the security delays for the average passenger..... Terrorism won this time.

My solution in this instance: Hang this f'cker in Times Square for all to see.

Edit to add: international government agencies

Now THAT's entertainment - I'm walking distance from Times Square on my lunch hour!:whistle:

Naturally they won't do that because the last time I checked, the "shoe bomber" is alive and well (under wraps of course).

The article I read said, "his father, an investment banker from Nigeria, commented on his son's" - And then I couldn't concentrate anymore because all I kept thinking about was "that's that sonofabitch who keeps sending me the e-mail scam messages saying I've won $1,500,000. No wonder his son's a terrorist!"

The same article said the suspect was NOT on a no-fly list but was on a terror suspect list. He'd been reported by his father and something else had also placed him on the suspect list (I wanna say a recent trip to Yemen) but he was still allowed to fly.

All these folks talking about how the system failed are incorrect. The system did exactly what it was supposed to do. He passed through security and boarded a plane. Those unconstitutional "lists" we keep hearing about may stop some of those we've placed on them, but terrorism, by it's very nature is not going to be stopped by lists.

I have been monitoring my spam, for a letter asking me to deposit the bail money check to my account for his son( of course I will be well compensated for my troubles)! I need to check and make sure all my account information is up to date, so the screwing will be through! I will be glad when " political correctness" takes a backseat to " common sense ".

Wonder what visa he was one since he was able to get on the flight. I thought that if you're on a tourist visa/VWP you weren't allowed to get into the U.S if you don't have a return ticket and hence probably wouldn't get on the flight?

Good question.

And if he was carrying a Nigerian passport, he wouldn't be on VWP... and since his name was on a Terror Suspect List or whatever, how did he get a visa in the first place...?

"The fact that we are here today to debate raising America’s debt limit is a sign of leadership failure. It is a sign that the U.S. Government can’t pay its own bills. It is a sign that we now depend on ongoing financial assistance from foreign countries to finance our Government’s reckless fiscal policies."

The only failure here is at the ground level - that the guy was allowed to go through airport security and board a plane to the US with explosives on his person.

The media did its usual "OMG are we safe!? Is the government really able to protect us!?" thing with this story. The guy was on a terrorist watch list, but it seems that there was no specific information at hand to suggest that he intended to attempt a terrorist act.
