You didn't. I apologize. I misquoted. In your original post you stated that OT mainly rambles about how bad America is...I didn't scroll back up...I mistakenly thought that anti-American and 'how bad America' is were synonymous terms. My mis-step!

However, I don't really see OT talking so much about how bad America is...just alot of varied opinions...which is to be expected.

Good point. I was called to the office in my high school in the 1970's when I turned 18 and made to register just as Viet Nam was ending for the US. I got a draft card, but never got called up. The draft ended in 1973 before I even graduated. That's the way the dice rolled. Who knows what might have happened if the draft wasn't abolished.

My dad got drafted at the end of WWII at 18 years old straight out of high school. He ended up taking part in the battles for Saipan, Iwo Jima, and Okinawa as well as taking part in the military occupation of Japan after the surrender. That's the way the dice rolled for him.

You have to wonder if we would still be as committed to Iraq and Afghanistan (and NATO) if no one was exempt from having to participate if chosen. I think these politicians and the American people would be a hell of a lot more cautious about what entanglements we let ourselves be dragged into.

Not to mention how many foreign born and their offspring would flee if they actually had to give rather than just take.

There probably more thought put into the domestic political implications if there was a draft as there are no wars except for the relatively tiny minority of professionals fighting.

I don't know if the foreign born would evade the draft if they were legals at least no worse than the native born.. A lot of them fought in our prior wars and some are doing so now. We have non-USCs serving as we speak.

Some of us our just exercising our first amendment rights. Our leaders are just other people with no super powers, definitely do not exhibit super intelligence. In many cases, complete idiots is more like it.

We are suppose to have government by representation where each representative is suppose to present the majority of the will of the people he/she is representing, but one can only ask, exactly who in the hell are they representing. Clinton in my book is represent China, screw the USA, Reagan, many European and Asian countries that have taken over a huge share of American owned businesses and more important, our communications and entertainment industries. They sure don't represent American views, and many here are twisted by that simple fact as they believe that chit. Regan killed the anti-trust act finding more and more companies headed by one corporation that has killed fair competition. Can kind of toss health care insurance companies in with that one as well, not to mention just about any appliance we buy, oil and energy companies, computer software, and major transportation. They got us where they want us.

Equal representation doesn't hold true either when I guy with the power of Kennedy spends trillions of our tax highway dollar in Boston with that huge tunnel while the rest of us can't even get our pot holes filled. Recently learned that Wisconsin is receiving the lowest share of Medicare benefits per capita, but all are paying the same rates.

In the last 40 years, over 1400 government agencies were formed, each ran by some idiot that help the current president get elected, they have the power to make laws that even contradict the US Constitution. For anyone running for president, the senate, or congress, should be able to pass a test, less than 100% is a failure just from memory to write down these 1,525 agencies. their function, their laws, and who runs them. But whenever a new problem occurs, the first thing congress does is to create another new agency. Homeland Security is one of the largest and for all practical purposes, a bad joke when we already have agencies that weren't doing their jobs. But those agencies are still hanging around.

Putting Emilio in charge of the USCIS was a bad joke on us during the immigration process, that guy can't even speak English and butchered up the forms that we can't understand. Wasn't this way before he got in. The American board of immigration attorneys finally got rid of him. He helped Bush get elected and each new president brings in about 10,000 new idiots to take over those many agencies so it just is a constant mess. Really seen the FAA and FCC go to hell in the last eight years. Forget about even mentioning the EPA.

One solution I have is to simply return this country back to the paperwork when it was first formed, that would be one hell of a huge bonfire for all these laws created since then. And zillions of laws are passed that are not even enforced, illegal immigration does come to mind on this subject.

Saw a cop car with flashing lights on this morning with a car ahead of him, Merry Christmas with a ticket was my first comment to my wife. When we approached, this cop was actually jacking up this old guys car helping him to change his flat tire. And in an icy rain to boot. Couldn't believe my eyes, Merry Christmas.
