Hello all:

So I got my NOA2..saying that the petition has been approved and that the application is not sent to the NVC.

The NOA2 has a date on it of Dec 11.

I called the NVC the other day.. to find out but it said in the automated system that the case is not found.

( in entered the Receipt # )

I finally spoke to an operator and she said something like the case is under review.. What does that mean ? What do they actually check there. I thought it would be at the NVC for a few days and then it would get sent to the Consulate in Brazil.

Do I suppose to get a Case # from NVC ?

I was wondering where the Interview letter comes from.

Consulate or NVC ?

Sorry for all the questions, still trying to figure things out.

Merry Christmas to everyone :)

You can always ask as many questions as you like.

Never rely on the automated response system when calling the NVC. Talk to a real person. They are open until 12 midnight of the Eastern Time on weekdays.

Yes, you are supposed to be assigned with a new case number.

You may call daily to get case updates. Make sure to take note of your new case number first.

It's possible for your case to stay in the NVC for one day or a few days more and it's also possible that they'd keep it for months. Oh well, when my case reached the NVC, someone said that it was under additional processing but actually, they sent it to the U.S. Embassy in my country after three days only.

The Embassy will send you and your fiancee a letter when she becomes eligible to schedule an interview.

Hakuna matata.

God bless us all.

Thanks for your help.

They never actually gave me a case #. But I did not ask either since I really did not know.

I called again last night and it still says says case not found in the automated system.

I call again today, if they are open.. if not Saturday to talk to someone.

Hopefully its already on the way to Brazil.

Merry Christmas :)

It can take up to a month for the case to move through the NVC to the consulate, sometimes more, I'd just wait it out till after the holidays as they'll probably slow down till then. After the first week of January I'd call and try getting the consulate case # so you can call Rio and ask if the case is already there.

K visas are not in the automated system and require a CSR contact for status inquiry... call the NVC # Monday and they will let you know the status.
