What does an illegal immigrant have to do to go back to his country on an airplane?

All you need is two copies of Mexican birth certificate and an ID(matricula consular card for example). It's not as hard as you guys are making it.

Exactly right. That is what I posted. And if he does not have either of those, he should be able to get it nenetheless, in the Consulate section "Atencion y Proteccion a Mexicanos"

Your  was completely unnecessary.

To the OP: all he needs is to go to the nearest Mexican consulate and obtain his passport - provided he has any sort of ID (i.e. credencial de elector, licencia federal) -- should take a couple of weeks though.

Once more with feeling - Do you think illegals come here equipped with passports?

Why would someone coming here illegally bring proof (home country ID) that he/she doesn't belong?

I would expect the Mexican consulate to offer help but perhaps they would have to offer proof by

connection to relatives who live there (address, telephone number, etc.).

Then ID could be verified through local records connecting that person to the relatives.

I'm still a little confused here - if someone is caught by immigration for not being here legally

do they give them the time to apply for documents when they were apprehended for having no documents?

Does that mean they can stay longer until they can show the US authorities where they came from?

Let's NOT assume the illegal is Mexican but came from a 3rd country through the Mexican border.

If the illegal has no money for a ticket, who pays for it? His consulate?

I'm no expert in this field but I want to know more...

What I think is :

1. Irrelevant.

2. Neither you or I know the entire situation.

The OP asked a question --- all you had to do -if you had the pertinent information- was answer the question. You do not, and hence you thought it would be ok to make asinine comments. The fact that you are not an expert does not excuse you from trying to be a smart azz. The OP not once mentioned anyone was "caught" now, did she? she asked what kind of paperwork/ID the person in question needed to go back to Mexico. Do you know what that is? No. I do, so I responded.

If you have "other" questions pertaining the repatriation of undocumented people, open your own thread.

Once again, this is an upper forum --- your snarky commentary is not welcome.

Please, let's not add to the confusion by speculating beyond the boundaries of the actual question asked. Here it is again:

My husband has a friend who is a illegal immigrant here in the USA. He wants to go back to his country (Mexico) and he has been told he can go back in airplane. What he wants to know is what he needs to do and what type of documents does he need to be able to go back to Mexico on an airplane. We live in Miami, Florida if that affects anything.

To summarize: The individual in question is Mexican. He is in the US illegally. He wants to fly back to Mexico. He wants to know what documents he needs to fly back to Mexico. He lives in Miami.

Speculation about third countries, whether he has or does not have a passport or other forms of identification, why he wants to fly rather than cross by a land border instead, etc. are all extraneous to the question and really just muddying the waters.

If anyone wishes to discuss other hypothetical situations please open a new topic instead of leading this one off-topic.

“...Isn't it splendid to think of all the things there are to find out about? It just makes me feel glad to be alive--it's such an interesting world. It wouldn't be half so interesting if we knew all about everything, would it? There'd be no scope for imagination then, would there?”

One can obtain certified mexican birth certificates online through actaexpress.com Once the birth certificate is obtained, he can apply for a matricula consular and a Mexican passport which would allow him to fly to Mexico. In many areas these documents can be obtained the same day as the appointment, but they may have to wait several weeks for an appointment depending on how busy the consulate is.

There is no need to have brought documents with you previously because they can all be obtained while in the United States.

Someone caught with no other issues would usually get voluntary departure, given 6 months or so to pack up and leave at their own expense

To be deported they would need travel documents which may well delay the process

 Now that's a reasonable answer; I had no political agenda in asking the question

despite it being slightly off topic. I didn't intend to provoke but will get me the meds I need.
