Hello everybody,

Ok, so here is the latest about my running around for my 221g and any additional advice will be very much appreciated. On the 221g that my fiance recieved they asked for religious divorce decree. His interview was on December 7, 2009. My petition expires January 31, 2010 and we will be submitting the religious divorce decree next week. Do you think that is enough time for them to make a positive decision? We have already submitted the civil divorce decree months ago, but I guess there are certain requirements in India that we were not aware of. This whole process is such a nightmare. I have come so far, and the embassy has not been responding to my emails. I called them, but the only response I get is its pending. So, just really frustrated. Thanks again and any advice is much appreciated.

oh star (((Hugs)))......its gonna be ok......as far as their answer when u call.....i think is generic answer.... what i get when i email them is its pending in administrative processing and all im asking is are u gonna let it die and make us start all over again.......

as long as u get that document in that they are asking for im sure they will give him his visa........as far as is it enough time?

your getting it in before the petition expires......i think that is all they are waiting for....at least thats what it sounds like to me.......i mean remember Margaret and Zahid? they wanted new passport because of damage and after he turned it in it was like what two or three days until visa was stamped in his passport..........i really think that is gonna be the case with u as well.....stay strong and never give up!!!!!!

I really don't have much ideas about k-1 but I think I have read somewhere that you can extend your dates, might be good if you contact DOS on how to extend the expiry date?

Wish you best (F) you guys still will have around a month's time before it expires, so not everything is lost.

Hi Sara (((Hugs))) to you as well. Ok, I am glad to know that its them with their vague generic answers. Yes, you are right I think that is more then enough time for them to make a decision. But, I am taking your advice and not giving up. We both will come out of this soon, and one day we can talk about wonderful things besides this frustrating process. Hope you are enjoying the holidays!

Thanks Trinket! Yeah, a months time should be enough. Yea, DOS told me the same they will extend it automatically, but I think with the indian consulates they normally don't tend to do that. Hopefully, they will do this in case I need the extra time. Next week will be my week of some news. Happy Holidays to you and your SO!

Hi Star,

One of my cousin's wife had a somewhat similar situation. I don't know when his petition was expiring but what happened was that his wife needed a co-sponsor in order for them to approve the visa. And as soon as they recieved the co-sponsor documents, they approved it within days.

His case was at Mumbai Embassy.

I'm sure that as soon as you submit the documents needed, they will give the visa right away. But my opinion is that like Twisted K said, You should request for extension just to be on the safe side.

Good luck and our prayers are with you.

Thank you! Gives me some hope to hear some good news. I already requested an extention from them and they have the letter I wrote via UPS. But, of course its normal for them not to respond to you at all. We will be submitting next week and then need lots of prayers.

U welcome. I'm sure if they recieved the letter, they should accept your request for extention. Call them to confirm your request. Hope they pick up! Lots of luck.
