ok my co-sponsor is now single she was married when she became a USC she then got her US passport after she divorced and got it in her maiden name(which she now uses) I sent I-864 and W2 and 1040 with Maiden name the NVC sends me a request for proof of USC with her MARRIED NAME ON THE CHECKLIST even though she did not write her married name on any forms and her docs are in MAIDEN name :blink: where did they get it from?

hmmm maybe they do background checks on co-sponsors..

Send in a copy of the sponsors passport and if possible a copy of her divorse certificate or document showing the name change... Attach a letter explaining that the sponsor was divorced and currently goes by her maiden name (see attached passport). This should answer their questions... They must have pulled up past IRS info with the other name and they are questioning if it is the same person....

Oh, so now they want you to send proof of USC with her married name? but she dose not have that right? How are you to get it if she no longer uses her married name? i sent my proof of citizenship with my un married name and they accepted it.

so your co-sponsor was a naturalized USC.. maybe you can also try to send NVC a copy of her naturalization certificate which is in her married name since she became a USC when she was married..

I'm going to send my DS 230 package to my husband this week so that he can overnight it as soon as it is required. This is what I have, can you all just look over it and make sure I haven't missed out anything on it. I would like to get through NVC as fast as possible.

Two (2) Passport Size Photographs of Beneficiary (Beneficiary’s full name, and date of birth are written on back of both).

DS-230 Part 1 completed and signed by beneficiary.

DS-230 Part 2 completed by beneficiary – unsigned, as of yet, per instructions.

Original Marriage certificate

Photocopy of Marriage Certificate

Original Birth Certificate

Photocopy of Birth Certificate

Original Police Clearance Certificate from Local Police Station

Original Police Clearance Certificate from Regional Passport Office, Calcutta

Photocopy of beneficiary’s Indian passport.

And the fee payment cover sheet, of course.

Also, are you guys filling out the 2009 tax returns? We weren't going to do it until late March and have them for the interview.

Re: the tax thing. It takes 6-10 weeks for tax ID # apparently. The passport biographic page to be used for ID must have an apostille and I'm only sending all that with the package for the DS-230. So, we probably will not have his 2009 tax stuff back in time for the interview. Will that matter if the interview is before the April filing deadline?

It's my understanding the ITIN is only for people who do not have or are not yet eligible for a SSN so it wouldn't affect you if you already have a SSN.
