Just keep at it. You will get through. I think it would be best to talk to the operator there, but in theory, you could just e-mail them your e-mail addresses. I havent read about anyone doing it though. Try a little later in the evening to call them. They work 0730-2400 eastern time. (from their recording)

Q for first step in NVC

Can I email NVC the email addresses of both parties?

The phone number is always busy.

No you need to call them. Trust me, put the number on speed dial, you will be calling them often!!! It's busy during the peak time of the day, but don't give up! You'll get through eventually and once they have your email address everything else will go by so much faster!!!:thumbs:

Get started on the PCCs immediately. Some places take nearly a month to issue them.

I'm going to mail the DS 230 package as soon as I have the NOA2 (come on, Lord) to my husband so that he can overnight it when required.

Hi SAchinky,

Thanks for the input. We are going to get started on PCC's immediately. I saw a couple of NOA's out this week and it looks like they are processing 3rd and 4th week of september and hopefully you get yours this week.

Hey guys,

Do you think it is a good idea to ask my wife to send me DS-230 and all original documents to me so I have them ready to go or should I wait until I get the DS-230 from NVC and then have my wife mail them directly? What are most of you guys doing? Only thing is that we dont have the PCC's yet but from other posters it looks like for Indian embassies it is ok to submit original PCC at the time of the interview.

I takes like 3-5 days for speed post from INdia and hopefully i can save like a week by having my wife send it to me right away and then I post whenever NVC sends us the DS-230 barcode and stuff.

Hey there... I would get both PCCs as soon as possible because they only allow PCCs to be submitted @ time of interview for the Mumbai embassy. I tried this and lost about 2 months in the process. Better to have the PCCs on hand than trying your luck

Best wishes...

Hi Lji,

I thought you can submit PCC's at time of interview in India. Thanks for warning me about that. Did the rules change for Indian consulates on the need to send PCC's to NVC? I am going to try to have my wife get the PCC's as soon as possible. Which consulate in India did you go to?

The problem is that we were going to apply for PCC's immediately but we have an infant daughter and we had to apply for her Indian passport(she was born before I became a citizen recently) and for that I had to submit my wife's passport so I cannot apply for PCC's till I get my wife's passport back. I am hoping we get done soon so we can immediately get started on my wife's PCC's.

Hi,

Based on your timeline, you still have about a month to month and a half before the Packet IV documents have to be sent in. Get the PCCs as soon as you receive your wife's passport back. The PCC from the District SP's office may take anywhere from 2-4 weeks, and the Passport Office PCC may take as long as 2 weeks depending on where you're trying to obtain the PCCs. You may be able to just submit photocopies of your passport to the District police station to get the PCC. This way, you can simultaneously apply to both the passport office and the district police station.

I was only missing the Passport office PCC when I sent in my Packet IV docs, and even after going through a supervisor review, I was told that they only do this for the Mumbai embassy now. Now, I'm hoping they finish up my paperwork pretty quick. :)

Best regards,

LJI

Hi Lji,

Thanks for confirming about the requirement for PCC at NVC for Chennai consulate. I wish we are still lucky like the Mumbai consulate. I will hopefully try to get PCC from passport office and from the SP's office concurrently going on in case they do it parallelly. Hoping you get an early interview date soon. I am sorry that you lost 2 months in this process.

Thanks.

I do too!!!! It's one of the numbers that I can dial in my sleep!!! The first month when we were at the NVC I actually went over on my minutes with my cell phone because I kept calling it continuous until I got through at work...and I have 900 minutes on my phone!!! After that, I limited myself until I got home because of free long distance on my home phone!!
