o.k, finally joining the thread after reading through for weeks. i have a question for you PROs:

i will like to know if we will be required to pay another $400 at the embassy, the information on the Nigeria embassy website currently stats that a visa fee of $400 ($355 visa fee and $45 surcharge) is required at interview. Is this the same $400 that we have paid to the NVC or is this another fee entirely. Response will be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

I think the 400 fee at the embassy is for k-1 cuz they dont stay at nvc. but for CR-1 im pretty sure you pay everything at nvc. Ill try to find you more info.

yah i pretty sure the fee at the time of the interview goes for K1'S not CR-1'S Look at the reviews here

The only people who talk about paying a fee for the visa at the time of the interview are people with K1's.

I am in agreement with MQ also. If you have paid the $400 at the NVC (CR1) then you won't pay again at the Embassy. There should be a disclaimer for the information on the Embassy saying what is need for each visa that is applied. On the Cairo embassy info page it is for the K1 visa also. From what I understand the only amount that has to be paid at the embassy is for the pre-paid DHL envelope you get for the embassy to send the passport and visa back to you. Please somebody correct me if I am wrong!!

MQ i sent in my DS-230 exactly one week after u did so i am waiting for ur case close to look at mine. Hopefully we will get the interview date in Feb for March

Well if we were getting an interview in PI then you can still get a Feb interview!!!! I have been looking at the scheduling of interviews at Cairo on VJ, and it seems that they schedule certain types of visa interview at certain times of the month. Now, I don't know if that means anything since I am sure not everyone who has interviews post it here on VJ ( why not? ) but the us embasssy in Cairo has their interviews listed online too. I sent them an email to update the list since the last date was 12/13/09. I want to see our number listed!!!!

I got a response email back stating they are out of the office until Tuesday, Jan. 19. Like I didn't know that!!!

Yes we got our interview date..it's 2/22/10..I have it on the bottom of my signature. It's a different color...hmm maybe I need to put it bigger???

Do you know which embassy your husband will have his interview at? Find out then go to that countries portal and look at the website for the embassy. It would be on there....

No you are right. The NVC schedules the interview, but the us embassy in Cairo, on their website lists all pending interviews they have scheduled there. I checked the website for ours but the list hasn't been updated since 12/13/09.

I don't know if the us embassy in your SO country does that or not. You can check and see though...

ah, i just want to get over with this. I know now i have to send my wife all the papers including this years W2 and 1099, because i am sure they will ask for it since the interview will be in march.
