Yes monday is MLK day.

I'm still waiting to get a case number at the NVC. Called the past 2 nights and our case hasnt forwarded...but mine may bypass the NVC from what other members have said...they said I wont get any case number until after I pay the IV bill that gets sent to me. I was told by the NVC that it normally takes 2-4 weeks to get loaded in their system from the USCIS, but it could take as long as 90 days!

It took about 14 days before I could get the case number from the AVR...then I called to talk to the OP to give them our email address!!!

If you are going CR1 route it won't bypass the NVC...

Yah, I Gusse. But im scared that somthing werid Will happen and ill get a RFE. even thow i know i sent everything. I want my log in fail now! haha. But now i gotta wait till tuesday to try to start logging in again.

I know what you mean. I was fine until everybody started to get failed log in that had sent their paperwork in AFTER me. So at 2 weeks exactly was when I got the RFE for the IV packet. All because of my husband not sending in his original arabic birth certificate. he only sent in the original certified copy of the english one and they wanted both.

Kinda down day for me... We has applied to get pre-approved for a mortgage as we wanted to get a house (with the market being as it is and the 8k tax credit) but we got turned down and they cannot find us a mortgage. We have the 20%+ down and my husbands earnings are very good but the fact that he does not have credit, credit history, rental history etc... they turned us down immidiatly. They do not care that he is a new immigrant and did not have a social. Did not care that we have the amount to cover the house in retirement and assets, did not care that we own a place over in Italy! Just did not care!!1 All they cared about was what pulled up on his Social #... Which of course was basically Nothing!!!

So we are back to the drawing boards now. We are going to start by getting him another secured credit card (we opened on so far) and see if we can get him a credit builder loan... I am pretty sure it will be a year or so until he has the credit... I guess the good thing is in the meantime we can save some more money! Our place is fine now, but it is small and we had started the process to adopt but we have to put that on hold now!!! Kinda depressing... And he is out on a ship now so I am here missing him, again!!!

Hope that NVC gets moving for everyone after the holiday

Aww Christeen, I'm sorry to hear that. At least you are reorganizing and doing the right thing. It's true, no matter how good your credit is, if you are with someone who doesn't have credit or bad credit for that matter, it'll mire you down.

Is he on your checking account now also? Perhaps he can get a small signature loan just in his name at the bank you two use. That'll be a quick credit build up!!

How long is your husband out to sea? I know it's hard when you are feeling down in the dumps and so far away from the one you miss the most. It always seems like when I get like that, even listening to music depresses the h&ll outta me!!

Couple of thoughts on credit. Get him a secondary card on any dept store credit cards (if you can), ask him to get a checkings account and use the checks often, also utility bills being on your name is a big plus to building credit. The main issue will be unsecured credit cards will not increase the credit limits fast enough to building the credit score just using checking account often and utility bill will be a big help. Hope that helps.

I know it doesnt totally bypass, but what DianneWalgreens told me is I wouldnt get my case number until the NVC sent me the IV bill and I paid it. She said hers was expedited and she took the AOS and her DS-230 and supporting documents to her interview. that is why I am still scratching my head on this. Ours was expedited at the CSC. If you look at her timeline she got her IV bill after her NOA2 and then the DS-3032. Either way I hope we can get the case number either before I got to the philippines or shortly after I'm there. I would like to have my wife do her medical while I am there. I will just keep on calling the NVC until I get the case number.
