Hi we are also worried because he still hasnt received the package. So I really dont know what is going on. Does anyone think my husband's name would have anything to do with them not keeping his passport? His full name is Marwan Ahmed Elsayed Mohammed Elkholy. I just wonder if having the name Mohammed in there might for some reason cause him to have a long AP. But why wouldnt the CO say he is in AP she told him he was approved and no problems or no worries and my husband would hear from them in 1 week. Why dont they just tell the truth.

Call the DOS, they will be able to tell you the status of your case.

I wouldn't worry about the name Mohammad, it is a very common MENA name.

Call DOS in the morning. At least, you'll know what's going on.

Waiting.....Waiting....waiting....waiting....and more waiting..........

I went for my interview at the embassy in Cairo 3 weeks ago with my hijab on and everyone was nice, civil, and respectful to me... I didn't experience any of what you said above while I was there....

My interviewer was smiling the whole time... And when she asked me to explain what I meant by that me and my fiance have the same and asked me to give her an example, I answered: "Well, an example is...my fiance loves that I wear the hijab, and I don't mind celebrating Christmas with his family, I actually contact them to say Merry Christmas!..." She smiled and said: "interesting".

I awas chatting with that Egyptian Christian lady right before I was called for my finger prints, and she didn't have a cross necklace... I only knew she was Christian when she said her name...

Also, there were many hijabi ladies who were interviewed before and after me and all were treated nicely (just like everybody else)...

What happened that made you say they treated your fiancee differently?

Back in 2006 when I was in the Embassy there were alot of people inside. We had to wait alittle while before we could get approved to get married. I didnt see any unusual going on inside there. There appeared to be more muslim women than non muslim and they were treated fine.

Adams interview in 2007 he was in the Embassy for 4 hours, and was never treated rude and he has a muslim name. So, I dont think the "Embassy" is rude in general. There has been a specific one or two CO in there thats rude though... but not the Embassy as a whole.

I guess I dont believe this is the norm, bcz my husband was there maybe a few more times than you and he never had a problem with his muslim name. Plus, we have had a couple of friends and people we met that had muslim names and never had a problem there. Most of them had a interview that went well , short AP and have been here 2-3 years already. None of the guys we knew that interviewed or was in the Embassy had a bad thing to say.

Question for you, are you the fella that has a huge age difference? If so, maybe it isnt the religion that had an issue with but was trying to figure out the larger age gap.
