Gary: Did you apply up in Burlington, Vermont? The main office in Montpelier is telling us that my wife must have at least her Work Authorization/EAD to show proof or her green card. I would assume our local office would require the same so I haven't called them yet. So I am not sure this is the case anymore. Just an FYI for the few of us in Vermont currently going through the process. Or perhaps it is up to the discretion, ignorance or kindness of the local DMV but this is at least what the main office in Montpelier is telling me.

Also for others, the rep told me my wife can take the road test at the next available appointment after passing the written test and does NOT have to follow the 20 hour rule of logged driving hours after attaining a learners permit. Will see if our local office thinks the same.

Ok, now my local office in Rutland, VT is saying that all my wife needs to show is her marriage license and the 797C form plus provide her SS# and proof of residency. Oh well, just to show that the local DMV offices don't always follow what the main office tells you.
