It took us about 9 days or so to get the visa in the mail. (however, if your in AP - it can drag on for months)

You can email them, they respond pretty good at that embassy.

(quick check on Anakar's website

All Iranian non-immigrant visa applicants aged 16 and over are subject to some type of administrative process before a non-immigrant visa is issued. If your visa application is approved, you will be given an instruction sheet on how to monitor the administrative process status from the internet. Administrative processes may take minimum 4-6 weeks or more and our office does not have any control over them.
)

Did they give you an instruction sheet to monitor the AP?

My Advice is usually based on "Worst Case Scenario" and what is written in the rules/laws/instructions. That is the way I roll... -Protect your Status - file before your I-94 expires.

They gave us a blue sheet that shows the web address for the embassy where you check the AP list to see if your case number has been added. Once the case number appears we are supposed to return to the embassy with the passport. They haven't updated the list since the 18th, however.

AP Status update...

So it looks like you have some time to wait. (minimum is 4 weeks - your only 1 week in)

The AP is done outside of the Embassy - so they can only update when they get updates.

(background checks - etc..)

Where? At the NVC?

They do some, I think the FBI gets involved too - not really sure about everyone that gets involved in the process.

Ok, thanks for all the answers. :thumbs:

I just hope it doesn't take too long because my landlord wants to sell the place we are currently renting. So come Jan. 19th we might have to move. I just wish they could give an estimate of how long it will take so I can decide if it is better to look for another furnished flat or stay at a hostel come the 19th if we are unable to stay where we are.
