USPS!!! WHAT THE FU... IS GOING ON???

In a different thread I was worried about my package arriving... USPS updated the status online and now it says:

- Return to Sender, December 22, 2009, 2:48 pm, SAINT ALBANS, VT

- Processed through Sort Facility, December 17, 2009, 9:55 pm, MOBILE, AL 36602

- Acceptance, December 17, 2009, 10:25 am, CALVERT, AL 36513

"Your item was returned to the sender on December 22, 2009 because it could not be delivered as addressed."

RETURN TO SENDER????

WHAT THE HELL???

First of all, I have NOT gotten anything back. Second of all, WHAT IS THE ISSUE HERE??? Are they kidding me? I am going freaking insane!!!!!!!!!!

What the freaking hell do I do???

I even put a PRINTED label on it, no hand writing:

And what worries me most: will I EVER get it back??? I mean I had ORIGINAL affidavits in there!!!!

Assuming you sent it to the correct address - it is quite possible you are getting an 'erratic' tracking response, which can happen (meaning it is there but you're reading it never made it). Hopefully that is the case here.

Certainly you would get it back - it's Christmas of course so it could take a bit longer than usual.

I triple checked the address. I even printed the label twice, one for the package, one for my records. Just compared it to the address stated in http://www.uscis.gov/files/form/i-751instr.pdf

It is letter by letter, number by number correct. Absolutely, 100%

Looked exactly correct to me too - my guess is, it is there (got there yesterday) and you'll likely get a NOA in the near future to confirm that.

People use USPS all the time for USCIS mail - is rarely a problem. But there are always exceptions...!

To the OP - it sounds like there was some plonker processing mail in St Albans that day. What a crock! As you have a tracking number, I would think there's a very small chance it will get lost on its way back to you. But then you're in the situation of trying to figure out whether or not to send it back via USPS or try FedEx. Sheesh.

I guess it's possible that someone miskeyed the online update. Meaning it should have been showing 'delivered' but they put in 'returned to sender' by accident. I guess all you can do is see if you either get a package back or a NOA1. I'm sure calling USPS would be pointless- they'll probably just tell you what is on the online update.

Okay.... here it goes:

I talked to the Postmaster in Vermont. It is back on the way to me, left their facility at 2:30 pm yesterday. Reason: not enough postage.

WHICH IS BS!!!! It is a flatrate letter envelope for $4,95, plus $0.70 for delivery confirmation. I went to a postal office in person and they gave me the exact stamp!!!

So... let us hope it will come back to me. And if it does: I will put ###### $50 in stamps on it... and they better deliver it. Freaking ideots.

That is freaking ridiculous. What's the point of going to the window if they're not going to calculate the postage correctly?? I would have them do it again and then add a dollar to it. Sheesh!!

Believe me, I am working in purchasing, dealing with 7 figure contracts. Unskilled labor is such a biggy here in the US.
