Pink Not Necessarily Pink

Doan and I returned to pick up her visa today. She was given pink on the 15th December. We could not come yesterday because we were attending her brothers wedding and saying good byes.

AFTER THREE HOURS WAITING THIS AFTERNOON THEY SENT HER OUT WITH A WHITE AFTER HAVING BEEN GIVEN PINK AT THE INTERVIEW. i HAVE NOT SEEN THIS PARTICULAR ONE BEFORE WHEN GOING TO PICK UP VISA. IT SAYS FOR DOAN TO RETURN TO BE FINGERPRINTED (ALREADY DONE AT THE INTERVIEW??????????).

The girl she talked to was extremely rude and inconsiderate and only cared about going home for the day and was absoltutely no help and very ignorant. She told Doan to come back next Monday but the paper says any day between 13:00 - 14:00 so we are going back tomorrow. I guess I err'd in getting our flight tickets after receiving pink. Now with the holiday I doubt we will be able to get visa in time. Hopefully this is not the beginning of a nightmare runaround by the consulate. I am planning on staying until we get this worked out and come home together.

I guess the moral of the story is - dont leap before you look becaus when dealing with the HCMC Consulate you never know what might happen next!!!

Good Luck Everyone and Happy Holidays!!!!

I have seen something similar posted before... just give them the fingerprints ASAP and hope you dont have to deal with that same person again... explain that the tickets were purchased based on the pink slip saying the visa would be ready on a specific date.. they should accomodate you if they have any integrity...

We will be going back today. The oaoer says between 1 and 2 so we will be there. I wish we could have been here a day earlier so I could go in and see the CO. Doan didnt come out till 5:30 last night and now I guess I'll have to wait till next Tuesday unless they can accept the fingerprintys and issue the visa today. I doubt that will happen. Tomorrow is holiday and flights scheduled for 26th at 6am.

Doan also said there were very many yesterday who had pink slips that were getting the same runaround. They were not getting their visa and being sent away with white. I reviewed our pink and everything appreared to be in order so I am not sure what the deal is other than the HCM deal.

if the same happens to Jim it would make me tend to think that it was a ystem issue with the fingerprinting system... I have heard that they have had problems with that system before... possibly the files were corrupt and they need it done again... be sure to tell them you have a flight in 2 days...

We are hoping that is what the problem is. We went as the paper said, arrived at 12:30 and were waiting with some others only to find that they decided to close after lunch even though the website says the 25th and nothing about the 24th. I took the liberty to read all the posts outside the consulate and found 99% of them to be in contdradiction to how things are done and at what times. I think I will be writing a lot of letters to my congressman and whoever else when I return home. I doubt anyone will care but I am not going to let this go with voicing some opinion. The other issue is the employees. The CO Doan had was very polite and curteous but the other girls wotking in the consulate (the Vietnamese girls) are incredibly rude and inconsiderate. This is the US Embassy and as a US Citizen I will voice my opinion about this. Anyone else feel the same???????????????????????

Govt officials get the 24th and 25th off.

Also, if you're concerned about the flight, call the airlines and ask if they can push it back. My last trip got pushed back twice with no charges.

Goodluck!

Sorry to be a latecomer to this thread.

Phuong didn't have any problems, but she went on the 22nd, which was the date on the pink slip. The guards wouldn't let me or her kids into the consulate, but Phuong said they did take her fingerprints when she picked up the passports. I actually could have entered the consulate an hour later, during the magical hour when US citizen petitioners are allowed in the visa section, but Phuong followed the instructions on the pink slip, which said to come at 3:00 pm and take a seat in front of window 12 and wait for your name to be called. Me and the kids waited across the street, where we hooked up with Elmer and his wife, who had also come to pick up her passport. Bernie and I met Elmer on the 15th when we were waiting for the interviews.

Anyway, from what Bernie describes it sounds like they were just having problems with fingerprints on the 23rd.

BTW, we flew to the US on the 23rd. We've been pretty busy every day. Her family and friends in the Bay Area were waiting at my house with a big party ready when we arrived. We've been pretty busy every day since then visiting people, shopping, etc.

12/15/2009 - K1 Visa Interview - APPROVED!

12/29/2009 - Married in Oakland, CA!

08/18/2010 - AOS Interview - APPROVED!

05/01/2013 - Removal of Conditions - APPROVED!
