How long is a PCC and Passport Clearance Certifcate good for? 6 mos? Should she start working on getting the PCC???

The reason I ask is, my wife and I are getting ready for the next step, as we are almost at the AOS stage and I just paid the AOS Fee Bill.

Even though it says im going for K3 I think we are switching paths since we are seeing some good and fast movement on the CR-1 route.

Some say the Indian PCC is good for six months, some say one year. But best, just in case, to get it only a month or so before the interview.

I was under the impression that NVC does the processing and requires the PCC to be sent with marriage certificate to NVC. Is this true?

I'm not sure about this either. I jumped the gun and got my PCCs done in end-October. I was hoping for a quick NOA2--oh well. Hopefully, they won't expire before I send them to the NVC. This is what I understand: when the PCC is sent to the NVC, it must still be valid. But for embassy purposes, it is considered to be valid for 1 year. So say you send the PCC to NVC 4 months after you get it, but by the time it gets to the consulate in India, it might cross 6 months. The embassy still considers it valid for a year then.

Or is it supposed to be sent earlier somewhere else?

I am still waiting for the NOA2.But are there things I can get done before waiting for this much waited thing to come our way?

Your going for a K-1 Visa, it's different, NVC just assigns a case number and forwards to the appropriate embassy.

CR-1 Appointment Post gets processed at NVC...

Ok, So, I think I'll just email the embassy and nvc and ask them how long they consider the PCC and Passport Clearance valid for...

Okay, so... right from the New Delhi's Embassy Website...

" POLICE REPORT: Each applicant aged 16 years and older must submit a police certificate that includes information regarding the applicant including all arrests, the reason for the arrest(s) and the disposition of each case(s). (A) Indian citizens residing in India for six months or more since turning 16 years of age must present Indian police clearance certificates from both their district police station and the local area passport office. Applicants whose passports were issued within six months of the visa interview may present just the passport office certificate. These certificates are valid for one year from the date of issuance. (B) If an Indian citizen who has lived in India for at least one year after the age of 16 currently resides outside India, he/she must obtain a certificate issued by the Indian Embassy or Consulate where he/she lives. These certificates are valid for only one year from the date of issuance. "

So, it's valid for one year....
