Hello Guys,

After the "yellow letter" I have finally received my interview notice.

It all makes sense except for this part "if you are applying for NATURALIZATION AS THE SPOUSE of a united states citizen"

I have been divorced for ever 5 years at least, .

They want my marriage certificate, thats not a problem.

Divorce certificate is also not a problem.

But they want his birth certificate and his citizenship certificate.. thats a problem.

I havent spoken to him in years.. i really hate to call him for favors. (even though i know he would give them to me)

They already have all this #######, why are they asking for all this again.. sigh.

Thanks for any help.

I should note that they did say : Those items noted below which are applicable to you**

Yeah sucks as I just had to order another BC. And yeah they already have a couple of mine. Guess they don't want to go back thru the records.

K1 denied, K3/K4, CR-1/CR-2, AOS, ROC, Adoption, US citizenship and dual citizenship

!! ALL PAU!

This is very simple, under what conditions did you apply for citizenship? if you did under the five year LPR rule you dont need the details of the marriage or divorce or birth certificate. But if you applied under the 3 year rule of being married to a US citizen then you would have to provide them.

So the question is, under what qualifying condition did you apply for citizenship?

Both my wife and I were divorced and we had to send in our divorce papers, again, plus our marriage certificate again.

"But they want his birth certificate and his citizenship certificate.. thats a problem."

Since I was the sponsoring USC, they wanted "my" birth certificate, I don't have a USC certificate because I am a natural born USC, but also had the option of just sending in a copy of my US passport, what the heck, I sent in both since I already have them scanned and my computer, just hit print.

Neither my wife, the one that I am happily married to now that was applying for USC nor myself, never, ever had to send in any information whatsoever regarding our ex's, they just wanted proof we were divorced from them.

The only time my wife's ex was involved, we needed his permission for her to bring her daughter here, but since our daughter now turned 18, he is history.

They do not want your ex's birth certificate nor his citizen certificate, just proof that he is also history in your life, your divorce papers.

Makes sense to me, i applied under the 5 year rule.

Thats what i thought.. but the line that through me off was the "Those items noted below which are applicable to you".

This is why i am so confused.

Thanks

No, thats what should help explain your confusion, meaning, you just get the items that is peculiar to your case "specifically". Hope this helps.
