was kind of wondering the same thing...our documents were expedited from the NVC to London on Dec. 22 - any idea how long it takes to get an interview with a medical expedite approved? Also, what is this packet 3 that people refer to - if we have an attorney would we have already done that (I know we filled out the ds-230 part I and II and the 864 form we also submitted all of our original documents, police reports, tax returns, etc.) is our next step just the medical and interview? Our attorney was expensive and zero help - I got both expedites on my own! Any input would be greatly appreciated : ) thx

What kind of a visa are you applying for? I see from your profile that you are from Armenia, are you a "permanent resident" of the UK?

HI ~ no sure if this reply was in regards to mine or not, but if it is I am a US citizen & my husband is a UK citizen...The visa we applied for is the K3. We have an attorney but they are hard to get in touch with & their answers are very vague. I got an expedite from our senator for his USCIS case & then another one for his NVC case. We have paid all fees & sent in all the forms (ds-230 & 864) along with all all original documents, police reports, tax returns, etc....the NVC expedited it to London on Dec. 22. I am just wondering if anyone has any idea as to when he may get his interview scheduled from this point. I have tried several numbers for the Embassy to get some information, but it is all automated and I've been told that they do not discuss immigrant visas via the phone. I realize they just received the papers last week but I'm not sure if things will go faster due to the medical expedite approval & also if we've already accomplished this "packet 3 step" since we've already submitted all of that to the NVC through our attorney?

Thanks...Cheers!

I don't know about the expedite, but I can tell you what happens in "normal" cases.

It can typically take up to 2 weeks (they will tell you up to 6 weeks) for them to enter your data from packet 3 into the computer in the first place when they receive the papers. Over the past few months, the embassy has designated interviews once a month (the beginning). So, my papers were sent in early December, logged in the middle of December, and I can expect to learn what my interview date is in January with it probably being in February.

If your fiance was not born in the UK you can expect some delays as generally all UK citizens or foreign nations are put into extra processing. One of our members became a UK citizen as a toddler and she was still put into this additional processing. I'm just adding this since you do have your local consulate listed as Armenia. I don't know what the effect of the medical expedite can do on this and perhaps someone else can answer that better.

Good luck! :)

Great...thanks a bunch! He was born in the UK and has lived there his entire life...I just messed up and put Armenia in my profile on accident I suppose. You helped a lot, I wasn't sure what the packet 3 was, but it seems as if we've already completed that step...yay! Do you know the best way to contact the embassy with questions? And how will I know when his papers have been entered in the system in London?

Thanks :)

You can call the Dept of State (a D.C. number) at 202-663-1225, press 1, then 0 to speak to an operator and have your case number ready and they should be able to tell you if you have an interview date or if your documents have been logged (although be wary...and read the last page of posts with my experience and leslie's experience!)

In regards to packet 3, I am not very well-versed in the K-3 visa, but it seems very similar to a K-1 in that both have to adjust status unlike a CR-1, so I would check out the K-3 forum here on VJ to be sure of the process.

If you look on page 1 of the NOA2-Interview thread here on the UK forum, there is also a list of the embassy number which can be called from the US or UK, although it costs some money to do so. When you call them, they probably won't answer your questions directly but you can ask for the special weekly e-mail code that will allow you to e-mail them without the e-mail being deleted. Good luck!
