Hi & Thanks to everyone that has posted on these message boards.

Background: I am a USC and my fiance is a UK (Wales) citizen. We are preparing our initial filing of our I-129F for our K-1 Visa.

I have been reading these message boards and have learned a lot, and wow so much to read. It is quite intimidating. I also have read through the USCIS.Gov website and I have a book that I bought that is a Guide to the Fiance Visa. I didn't fully realize before that we need letters of intent (duh!) so now I have to ask my fiance to write that up and mail it to me to complete our paperwork.

My question - as I read these forums, I see a lot of acronyms that I am not familiar with. I know some basics (AOS, USC, etc, but there are a lot that I can't figure out.) Is there an acronym cheat sheet anywhere?

Thanks again!

Amy & Michael

Congrats on the start to a worthy road!

Yes, there are a lot of acronyms at a glance that are confusing and unknown, you will learn them over time. Usually though, you can just ask :D. AOS for example is "Adjustment of Status" USC is "United States Citizen". To be very honest, I just googled "AOS meaning" and it will put up loads of different meanings for various acronyms using http://www.acronymfinder.com/

Good luck with your journey and love long!

01/23/2009 ----------Leave Athens and my Honey for the processes to begin

02/10/2009 ----------Beginning of Greek Military Obligations for 11 months

03/21/2009 ----------Stationed to Rhodes

07/16/2009-----------Meeting in Spain for 6 days!

08/27/2009-----------Stationed to Nevrokopi

01/10/2010-----------Gets OUT of the Army!

02/16/2010-----------Interview!

02/24/2010-----------Lampros arrives in WA!!!

He didn't just want me long, he wanted me a little longer than forever... :3

When UR filing 129-f, the proof of realtionship and other things, are submitted by u u just file the 129-f and g325, and I forgot what else.

Hi Amy&Michael, and welcome to the forums!

Don't worry about the overwhelming part of it, you will get used to the madness eventually :D Your post reminds me of how I felt when I first joined, and I made it through, so don't worry - you guys will do it too! VJ has a pretty neat list over the acronyms used here if you'd like to take a look: http://www.visajourney.com/forums/index.ph...page=definition

It should have most of the immigration acronyms, if not all of them. Good luck!

Hi Rajm, you need quite a few things to go with the I-129f and G325 forms. I suggest you take a look at the complete list here: http://www.visajourney.com/forums/index.ph...mp;page=k1guide

Just follow the guide, tick off everything as you go, and you should be fine. At this point the USC (US citizen) needs to submit everything. Just make sure you get the G325, a photo, plus the letter of intent from the beneficiary to include with the I-129f petition. Good luck, I hope you'll have a smooth journey! :star:

The process can seem overwhelming at first, but let me assure you that while there are a lot of things to gather, the requirements are fairly straight forward. Just focus on gathering one thing at a time, and before you know it, you'll have the whole packet assembled! In fact while gathering both the I129f packet and the AOS packet the end sort of snuck up on me - one day I went down the checklist...and everything was there! Yay! The guides are very helpful for creating that checklist.

Good luck for a speedy visa journey!

K-1:

January 28, 2009: NOA1

June 4, 2009: Interview - APPROVED!!!

October 11, 2009: Wedding

AOS:

December 23, 2009: NOA1!

January 22, 2010: Bogus RFE corrected through congressional inquiry "EAD waiting on biometrics only" Read about it here.

March 15, 2010: AOS interview - RFE for I-693 vaccination supplement - CS signed part 6!

March 27, 2010: Green Card recieved

ROC:

March 1, 2012: Mailed ROC package

March 7, 2012: Tracking says "notice left"...after a phone call to post office.

More detailed time line in profile.

Thanks to everyone who responded for their help! I sent in the I-129F packet on Monday and it was received today at the USCIS office - CSC.

Nik & Heather - I noticed your timeline in another thread and was thinking - wow, that sure looks like what I hope my timeline will be except for 2010, not 2009. My fiance is from the UK, we're filing in January, and we're thinking of planning an October 2010 wedding. I am really scared to plan anything, though, in case the process takes longer than I anticipate...would hate to have to re-schedule everything (and inform our guests of the delays) as well as lose the deposits...but we will see :)

Thanks again!
