USCIS Update: Change of Filing Location for Form N-400

WASHINGTON - U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) today announced revised addresses for applicants filing an Application for Naturalization (Form N-400) at USCIS Lockbox facilities in Phoenix and Dallas. This filing address change takes effect immediately.

Applicants who previously filed their applications at the Lewisville Post Office (P.O.) box will now file their applications at a P.O. Box in Dallas. See address below. In addition, the table below includes a change to the USCIS Phoenix Lockbox address. Starting immediately, applicants filing Form N-400 at the USCIS Dallas or Phoenix Lockbox must submit the application and all supporting documents and fees to the following addresses, based on where they live:

The U.S. Postal Service will immediately forward mail from the Lewisville Post Office to the new post office in Dallas until December 31, 2009. After that date, the Postal Service will forward the mail through normal channels, which will likely delay receipt at the Dallas Lockbox facility.

Applicants filing a Form N-400 under military provisions (Section 328 or 329), should file their application at the Nebraska Service Center, PO Box 87426, Lincoln, NE 68501-7426, regardless of where the applicant lives. This includes current military spouses regardless of geographic location or jurisdiction.

If you are filing a Form N-400 at USCIS Lockbox facilities, you may elect to receive an email and/or text message notifying you that your application has been accepted. You must complete an E-Notification of Application/Petition Acceptance (Form G-1145), and attach it to the first page of your application.

The N-400 form instructions have been updated to reflect the new filing locations.

Really wouldn't know how to deal with the USCIS without a computer, seems like they are changing stuff every five minutes. Best to go to the Form Site, look up the key form you are sending in to get the latest address and also to get the newest form plus other changes like fees and instructions that are always changing.

We recently submitted an I-130, use to be Nebraska for us, but now a Chicago Lockbox, whatever that is, in checking the processing dates for that form, who are we petitioning four, they still list the same old four service centers, but didn't tell us which service center our form was submitted to. Should we be expecting a letter from the Chicago Lockbox?

So they have me opening all of my junk mail neatly with a letter opener, again, a lot of that junk mail looks very official with even fines of a zillion dollars if the proper receiver doesn't open it. If it ever does come in, may take months or even years, know from experience, we would only be given five minutes to react to it.

Don't you just love dealing with the USCIS? Cashed our check in a big hurry, do know that.

(though it doesn't apply to me as a USC, but it does help other vjers who are applying which is good here)...

Here is a thought to the USCIS: Cut the ####### with the lockboxes and national service centers. Why can't we just all send our files to our "local office" instead, as all the paperwork ends up there in the end anyways. Saves time, postage, manpower, and is more efficient this way!

Oh what a sight it was to see my 3-4 inches of immigration paperwork over the years, at my local office when I had my N-400 interview....

Lol....I (and I'm pretty sure everyone else) does not want their paperwork to be "lost/misplaceed, etc." while in transit, either....

Heck, my immigration paperwork over the years has had more "frequent traveller miles" than I have..

Illinois, Missouri, Vermont, California, Kentucky, Texas, etc....Good grief!

And then finally at my local office in Buffalo, NY....And who knows where after citizenship...Does it go in the trash, or some storage place, or elsewhere?

"Round and round, our immigration files go...Where in the USA it ends up....Nobody knows..Not even the USCIS!"
