Does PAL offer a Special One-Way, One-Time Immigrant Fare?

Heard some people claim they got one before, but I just can't get a clear answer, even from PAL.

No such promotion appears on their website, besides those are all internet sales only.

I want my fiancee to purchase her ticket at the PAL ticket counter so there is no delay or deny because I purchased it online. This is a must.

I'd be curious to hear what the best rates people have gotten on a one-way from MNL >> LAX, even at regular prices recently.

What about the legend of a RT ticket being cheaper than a One-way ticket?

Has anyone ever been told they are getting a special one-time Immigrant Special Fare?

Thanks, The excitement builds.

I too heard of special rates for new immigrants but no amount of calling or web searches found this to be true or not. My fiancee' (now wife!) went to a PAL sales office at SM mall Davao and asked about this fare and only got a few confused looks in reply. They quoted her some stupid price over 1500 USD.

The cheapest ticket 1 way I found (sept 09) was 1170$ or so from EVA (MNL-TPE-LAX). However a R/T was only 690 or so......needless to say she did not use the other half of that R/T ticket!. I can confirm R/T tickets are most likely the way to go. For the life of me I cannot understand the logic of the 1 way vs. R/T fares. No one even questioned us in Manila why an immigrant would have a R/T ticket when departing Manila.

Hawaiian airlines now flies from/to Manila but there are blackout dates and you must spend the night in Honolulu I think on some segments.

I got a first time immigrant discount from PAL when my wife and anak came. It was 4 years ago tho. 20% off but I flew them business [Mabuhay].

Since I purchased the tickets in the US they had to pay the PTA tax. P1620 for wife and P810 for anak.

My fiance got his one-way ticket for $481. He had to pay before the 18th and his flight will be on the 26th. I'm not sure how he was able to get that very low price. I think his aunt it for him and she's a frequent flyer.

I purchased a oneway through PAL from the US on my credit card. The price was better than with the first time immigrant discount. My wide did not want to take the chance of being scammed by a travel agent like the VJer earlier this year.

Also, I have noticed over the past three years that fares will drop in January through early March.

Hey Rich,

My wife bought her one-way tickets (herself and son) through a travel agency in Cebu. The best deal we found at the time was with Cathay Pacific for about $600 per ticket. But that was 3 years ago.

I'd recommend you have your fiancee go through a travel agency because they can tell her all the other added fees (airport fees) ahead of time. She will need to buy the ticket herself so I'd recommend wiring her the money on the day she is going to purchase the ticket.

Really? We were told that I could not purchase a one-way ticket with my credit card. I had to wire her the money and she had to purchase it herself.

When Claudeth came they were offering a special rate for K-3/CR type visas, unfortunately at that time the K-1 didn't qualify. I sent her the money and she was able to get a ticket about $150 cheaper than anything I could find here.

MY hubby got the special rate but its only thru agencies that PAL approves or something like that... the deadline is december 23 though and you have to have a photocopy of your visa that was just approved to show that its your first entering us with an immigrant visa...

YES! PAL has first time immigrant discount. Because I got mine. I flew from Manila to LAX for only $535 all inclusive . ( Phil Travel tax) I just paid the terminal fee of Php750 before I went inside the terminal area.

Here's the real answer for your inquiry.

PAL has first time immigrant discount (one way) but you have to compete for the available slots each month they have open.

As to my case, I am an immigrant, because I am on CR1 visa category. I am not sure if K1 is included.

I called several travel agencies to get the latest available slots for the month of November (the month I flew) that PAL or Hawaiian Air offers. If the dates are full, just ask whatever travel agency you got the lowest fare for a First time immigrant rate to put you on reservation. They will put you on queue. if someone backs out, or didn't confirmed their flight date, they can probably give you that seat. But the chance to get a seat for a certain flight of PAL that you have a first time immigrant discount will surely measure your patience.

My travel agency is directly connected to PAL since its one of PAL's travel agencies. So I just waited 2 days for my reservation to be confirmed. Then I paid the ticket CASH on that travel agency.

So to answer your question... YES! PAL has first time immigrant discount.

I also LOVED their Food!!!
