My status in the USA is F1 and I applied for AOS in March of this year. Now my internaational advisor is saying that I need to maintain my F1 status otherwise I'll be in trouble. Now I recieved my EAD card recently and have to work instead of study. Anyone else with this situation? What do you think I shud do?

06/09/2008 Mailed I-751 Packet, Removal of Conditions on Residence

07/23/2008 Biometrics Done

02/11/2009 Case transferred to CSC

03/23/2009 Case Transferred to Newark, NJ, Awaiting Interview.

06/25/2009 Interview...APPROVED!!!...Never Received 10 year GC

03/24/2006 Sent AOS Forms (I-130, I-485, I-765)

04/18/2006 Biometrics Processed

05/13/2006 RFE for I-485 processing (need I-864)

As an adjustment applicant, you no longer need to keep your F1 status. You can study while you are an Adjustment Applicant waiting for your interview...

As soon as you filed for AOS you gave up your F-1 status I believe, as F-1 isn't a "dual-intent" visa like, say, an H-1B is. However I think your advisor is wrong, you can study if you are going through AOS and have an EAD.
