Newark airport is about 25 minutes from home and I don't like it much. Glad you've had positive experiences though :)

Right. I know it'll be a long 1.5-2 hour drive but we're planning to hit the casinos first and then drive a half hour or so to ACY when it's time. My question was more about the airport itself, not the drive there. Thanks though :)

My boss flies in and out of there and says it's easy. I'll ask him about the terminal, etc.

If you are planning on hitting the casinos first, that may well be the end of your journey, should do that last. Unless you are like me, where else can a guy get a seven course steak dinner for under four bucks? But if anywhere close to the first of the month, stay far away, that's when apparently they pass out the SS checks, the line to get in is very long.

With the airlines, never know, we have many small commuter type airlines around here, and sometimes the rates are cheaper to pick one of those commuter airlines than hitting the major international airports. And they fly you to one of those major international airports. Most only charge a buck a day for parking, at the internationals, just drive an old car and leave it there, but get license plates from a wrecking yard and remove the VIN number first.

We did fly to Newark first on one trip, don't ask me why, the rates were cheaper even though we wanted to head west. Nothing makes sense anymore.

 good point but i'm not worried. i'll make it to the airport, the food coma will have to wait till i reach my destination.

I hear ya. The reason I'm not flying out of Newark, which is such a short drive away, is because the only flights out of EWR at a comparable price point had long layovers at out-of-the-way airports.

The craziest I ever heard of is when my cousin had to fly to JFK from Raleigh... via Pittsburgh and Chicago

He says it's just a handful of gates, easy in and out.

It's also an Air Force maintenance facility. I was surprised one time driving by there and seeing Air Force 1 taking off. Though without the prez it's just a plane.
