Because unfortunately, his stepfather has a lot of money, I mean, A LOT!!!! And he is also a lawyer... so I think he is probably paying off the court's decision or trying to go around the law somehow.

It's sad I know, and a lot of Brazilians are revolted with this too.

And I have to disagree that the child has a right to choose, he is still 9yo. I'm sure he is under pressure and the mom's family is probably coaching him to say that he wants to stay in Brazil. He should be returned to his dad and then when he is old enough (maybe 18?) he would be able to decide where he wants to live. Hopefully this case will get sorted out and the dad can be reunited with his son again.
