I’m not sure if anybody else has done this in the past but I just wrote a letter to my senator in Ohio. Mr. Lynn Wachtmann. I've met Lynn many times in the past and felt like venting. I'm damn upset with the decision to transfer Ohio petitions to CSC when I feel they should have been transferred to Vermont. I doubt that anything can be done about my petition now as far as Vermont is concerned. But I brought to Lynn's attention the large difference in processing times between VSC and CSC. I asked Lynn to rattle some chains at CSC. I don't know if this will help but CSC is a disgrace to a tax paying American. I'm now retired from GM and I would like to get on with my life, but CSC is nothing but a road block to my and all of your happiness.

Clare

Sorry I don't have the patience for the ####### in CSC. They make my blood boil.

How can the USCIS turn a blind eye or completely ignor the difference between Vermont and California?

I know how you feel. Its incredibly unfair. Vermont petitioners from mid June are receiving their approvals and Californian couples from March are still clueless as to their status.

The distribution of cases seems totally unfair. Its like Vermont is running a little high-class boutique agency. We all pay the same fee, we should all get the same service.

Wachtmann is a state senator, not US senator. I spoke to DeWine's office as did another VJer. PLease try them, it's a higher power!

The state senator won't be able to help you. You have to contact DeWine and Voinovich's office as Devilette and I have.

Good Luck!

I guess their decision at this point was based on the backlog caused by the petitions with NOA2s that were erroneously approved by VSC and were recalled. Yes, there are petitions filed post-IMBRA that have been approved in VSC but there are lots of recalled petitions that haven't. But I see your point. CSC's been historically slower than Vermont.

I only offer advice - not even legal. Just the plain and simple kind.

The reason I contacted Lynn Wachtmann was because I know him on a personal level and wanted his advise on how to handle this situation. I have edited my letter and sent it on to both Voinovich and DeWine's offices.

I know I'm new to this waiting game and I'm not trying to belittle any current member who's already waited an unendurable amount of time. I'm trying to show some people in power just how bad our situation is. I'm also not trying to inflict any bad vibes towards Vermont. I'm merely trying to get the CSC to come close to mirroring the track record of Vermont. After all like michellek1976 said. We all pay the same price for processing why should the unlucky many that get sent to CSC be burdened with a wait three times what Vermont has. As a tax payer I and We are entitled to better service than they are rendering.

No, Clare, I totally understand your point and you're right! I didn't mean to say that I think you're sending bad vibes or anything. I merely said that they may have made their decision based on the backlog caused by the recalled petitions (not saying that it was a smart thing to do), and after they're done with it, maybe things will improve for CSC. Believe me, if I had my process at CSC I would want to do pretty much the same you guys have been/are doing. :) And I truly hope you guys see some fast progress on all of your cases. I root for everyone on VJ.

There was another thread about contacting congressmen... I think kitkat started it. Lots of good info there.

Clare,

It is the agony of waiting that is frustrating. We don't know when the petitions filed at CSC be given the same treatment VSC has done to its petitioners. When will CSC expedite the NOA2??? I pray your letters to those in "power" will generate fast results for all CSC petitioners. We will all be very happy.

jo&john's journey:

03/10/04: Met John at Yahoo! Messenger; start of a good relationship

03/30/04: I became his girlfriend

05/26/04: John excited for his trip to the Philippines to see me and set the direction

05/27/04: John on board Delta Airlines from DFW (Texas) to San Francisco

05/28/04: John on board China Airlines from San Francisco to Taipei

05/29/04: John on board China Airlines from Taipei to Manila; I met him at the

NAIA (Ninoy Aquino International Airport); the rest IS magic! We became

more in love!

05/30/04: We got engaged! The remaining 3 days were full of good memories and still

crystal clear for me

06/03/04: John left for Taipei on board China Airlines; reached LA then DFW same

day; I miss my honey; we both wait for the approval of my annulment

petition (series of court hearings and procedures; constant follow-up to

expedite the process; delays because of holidays, official leaves of

court personnel, etc; judge is meticulous, no short-cuts) ; John had been

very supportive and is still.

03/23/06: Regional Court Decision out: Declaring absolute nullity of my marriage.

We were very happy! The long wait was over! Actually, the decision/resolution

made was dated February 23, 2006. It took a month for editing, finalization,

etc by the court stenographers, clerk of court, etc.

Upon receipt of the Decision, I flew to Manila (I’m from Iloilo City) and

personally hand-carried the Decision to the Solicitor-General (was

praying Sol-Gen won’t object to the decision; RTC’s give 15 days for

Sol-Gen to appeal)

04/07/06: No appeal from Solicitor-General. RTC recorded the decision in the Book of

Entries of Judgment (as final and executory). Entry of Judgment signed by

the Clerk of Court. This was then forwarded to Local Civil Registrar.

Annotation was done to my Marriage Certificate. Submitted the Annotated

(with Annulment Remarks) Marriage Certificate to NSO (National Statistics Office)

for authentication and on SECPA (Security Paper). I got my SECPA annotated

marriage certificate after 3 weeks.

04/10-16: Holy Week; no office

04/17/06: Submitted requirements to RTC for issuance of Annulment Decree

04/18/06: Got my Decree of Declaration of Nullity of Marriage (annulment process

took 1 year and 10 months from filing of petition to getting the decree)

Sent remaining pertinent documents to John needed for the K1 petition.

Both of us were elated!

04/22/06: John sent I-129F to Texas Service Center

04/25/06: I-129F received at California Service Center (Fr. TSC);

There's no doubt that the decision to transfer cases to California has screwed a good number of people. I work for a Minnesota Congressman, and our office is trying to figure out (without luck so far), whether the cases transferred from Nebraska ended up at the back of the line in California, or whether they are still considered based on the date they were sent by the applicant.

On a related note, contacting state representatives won't do any good. You will need to contact your Member of Congress and/or Senators if you want help from elected officials.
