@#$@!! Can't send a wedding DVD to the Phils?!?

So we finally got our wedding photos and had a separate album made to send to my wife's family. We also have several copies of the wedding DVD.

I went to a place to send via DHL. The girl there was on the phone to DHL for 15 minutes to find out if the items I wanted to send were OK. (I also had a cell phone I wanted to send which is not allowed - that I can understand ...)

The wedding photos were OK to send but the DVD's were not due to "censorship laws" in the Philippines. WHAT??? Why would a wedding DVD be subject to censorship in the Philippines? It was even Catholic wedding!

So what is my Plan B? I really wanted to use DHL to avoid the Philippines post office. Any ideas??

Thanks,

Matt

Send them a balikbayan box and just stick the stuff in there. We use Manila Forwarders and have never had a problem.

I would use USPS...I havent had any problems with them. That is crazy. I would have had the box already packed before I talked to DHL and just had them send it. I know people have had problems with fedex, but they are another option.

how big is the video? maybe put it on a thumb drive and send that, as the price of a 4 gb is less than $20.

But the DVD's from US won't work on DVD players in the Phils. It's a regional restriction to prevent piracy.

LOL

Sorry to thread hijack.. But you're kidding right? You know how big DVD piracy is in the Philippines? Almost every corner has a DVD booth where you can buy pirated movies before they even come out. I have almost a hundred pirated disks and they work on my US player fine, and the pirates even make a pirated DVD player which almost everyone has...

That was also my initial concern when I read the post.. if im not mistaken I think U.S. has Region 1 while the Phils has Region 3. Of course it would make a very big difference if they already have a dvd that was bought here and was send there.

Anyway, you could probably ask around if someone is going to spend their holidays in Pinas and request if they can bring it for you.

To add to the thread, hide the DVD in the package and send her something. I left my USB stick there on the table in her house when I left.... It had all our trip photos (Over 8,000 photos) and I was a bit worried. She went to TNT and a few other shipping places and they said a USB drive wasn't allowed.... what! What a joke. So she sent me some other stuff (An old wood lame frame) and something she made me and hit it in there.

I once brought my girl an external DVD drive (bought in US) for her laptop, and when we tried to play one of her DVD movies on it, the holes on the DVD and the Drive were even different sizes.

I'm not into the pirated DVD's like some in this thread, and personally if I were, I would not be bragging about all the illegal disks I have smuggled in from the Phils

I promise to love you in good times and in bad, with all I have to give and all that I am, in the only way I know how -- completely and forever......
