What do people who do not have a copy of form DS-3025 do when it is time for AOS?

Do you schedule an appointment with the Civil Surgeon to complete form I-693 before sending AOS documents?

Do you have to go to a primary care physician before going to the Civil Surgeon (this may take months to get an appointment)?

What if the vaccination records are in Russian? Will the civil surgeon accept a translation to certify form I-693?

Do you trust that the foreign medical exam took care of this and USCIS did not lose it, thus sending no form I-693?

Do you only care about medical exam and vaccinations if you get an RFE?

Do you show evidence only at interview time?

I do not want to wait until she is out of status. Therefore, I want to do what is quickest, but also try to avoid an RFE.

Suggestions?

Follow the Guides

Yes, tomorrow is their appointment

Do you have to go to a primary care physician before going to the Civil Surgeon (this may take months to get an appointment)?

No

What if the vaccination records are in Russian? Will the civil surgeon accept a translation to certify form I-693?

Didn't you get a DS-3025 from the medical there or from the interview? If so, then it's an official US form with no translation required.

Do you trust that the foreign medical exam took care of this and USCIS did not lose it, thus sending no form I-693?

Huh?

Do you only care about medical exam and vaccinations if you get an RFE?

Huh? I care about getting no RFEs.

Do you show evidence only at interview time?

I'm not planning on any since we haven't generated much yet.

I do not want to wait until she is out of status. Therefore, I want to do what is quickest, but also try to avoid an RFE.

Suggestions?

If you did not get a DS-3025 then you will need to get the vaccinations and have a form I-693 filled out by a CS. I would send the AOS documents right away and get after the needed vaccinations, etc. You will get an RFE and can respond to it.

The CS may or may not accept translated vaccination records, it is up to the individual CS. Most of them would rather just charge you for additional vaccines.

It would have been nice to know that she could have got a copy of form DS-3025 during the medical exam in Moscow to make things easy during AOS. According to what I have read so far, a copy of that form is all that she needs, but now we cannot get it anywhere ...

... we'll have to pay again for a full medical exam just to get a paper signed by a Civil Surgeon.

Ever read my signature line?

Also, you shouldn't have to pay for a full exam, just the vaccinations she needs.

Slim's signature has that same verbiage in it as well as the K-1 Medical related topics in the K-1 sticky.

Oh well, all is not lost (except for a few more dollars).

Slim,

Unfortunately, I do not read anybody's signature ... I respect people's privacy :innocent:

And I do not read every single form or instruction manual that gets across my computer. If I did, I would not have time to live.

I did an infopass to see if I can get a hold of the original medical exam. CBP (Customs and Border Patrol) told me that it was sent to the District office. Otherwise, we'll have to pay for the medical again

This happens to anyone who leaves everything for the last minute (my wife and I are the same on this area. We married three weeks ago, and it is only now, a week before the I-94 expiration, that we decided to take a look at what is required)

If I were as organized as Baron, we would have the GC already

I am not going to sweat it. Just sharing the experience. It may help a cautious soul in the future.

There's no hurry on filing. To be quite technical, she never has to file.

Take your time unless you're wanting her to work or something.

Yes! There is a hurry: she wants to work ASAP and stop depending solely on me.

Anyway, I got an Infopass and got conflicting information. One person told me to write a letter explaining the situation, because as a K-1 she is exempt, but another told me that most certainly I will get an RFE due to missing I-693.

So, we bit the bullet and she got ALL (only two indeed) the vaccines again today. There was no way around it. Now or later, it had to be done. Now we need to find the $1,010 to file for AOS ... before the government decides to increase the fees again.

The way I see it, I pay USCIS this money and I get it back from the IRS as an additional dependent on this year's taxes

As long as she has a social, she should be able to work at most places. Some places will give her grief, but there are spots out there that only want to see a state ID and a SSN.

Yep, if you've been paying single rate all year then file married, that first tax return is sweet!

Unless of course your SSN has the "restricted" language on it, which then your increases "grief" frequency exponentially

YMMV
