We just filed my AOS last Dec 16, 2009. And, my passport is expiring on Feb 10, 2010. I made a reservation going to LA to renew my passport 1st week of January. It is possible for me to fly? my visa for k1 is expired. How long do i need to wait for biometrics? Do i need to present my passport for biometrics? coz if thats the case i need to wait for it before i can renew my passport coz it will take them 6-8 weeks to process my pasport. What is the best thing for me to do? Pls give me some advice here thanks.

Maybe 30-days.

Do i need to present my passport for biometrics?

Photo I.D. will be required - doesn't have to be the passport.

When you say your K-1 is expired, do you mean the visa or the I-94? You haven't filled in your timeline, so I can't tell when you entered.

I would not recommend that you fly until you have received the NOA1 from your adjustment filing. If your I-94 has expired, and you do not have the receipt notice of your adjustment filing, you have no proof of legal presence in the US, and the airport is one of the places where they are likely to check that sort of thing.

Most other times of the year you might be able to count on your NOA1 arriving in time, but with the holiday coming up, I am not holding up hope (we sent ours off the day after you).

If you have the NOA1 paper in hand already, then you are good to go.

K-1:

January 28, 2009: NOA1

June 4, 2009: Interview - APPROVED!!!

October 11, 2009: Wedding

AOS:

December 23, 2009: NOA1!

January 22, 2010: Bogus RFE corrected through congressional inquiry "EAD waiting on biometrics only" Read about it here.

March 15, 2010: AOS interview - RFE for I-693 vaccination supplement - CS signed part 6!

March 27, 2010: Green Card recieved

ROC:

March 1, 2012: Mailed ROC package

March 7, 2012: Tracking says "notice left"...after a phone call to post office.

More detailed time line in profile.

My i-94 expired last September and my K1 visa expired last November. And we just filed my AOS last Dec 16.. We failed to file it on time because were always out of state. And, my passport is expiring too soon
