I filed my AOS application along with my AP on June 22, 2006............my AP came back 2 weeks later because I had ticked the wrong box. I made an INFOPASS right away (July 11) and they approved my AP with 1 hour and a half (I had to get back to Canada for the birth of my grandchild and my Dad's 98th birthday....another thread :yes: ) Plus they did my Biometrics while I was there.

Well Lo and Behold, this morning I received our AOS Interview letter for August 21 at 3 p.m............wonderful except I will be out of the country...........the reason I needed my AP. So I call Homeland Security, waited for about an hour and I spoke to this lady and she's submitting a request to postpone our Interview til after September 15. She said that will be fine as I contacted them right away, it's when they're not notified in enough time that penalties come in.

I can hardly believe the timeline it took for everything we've gone through. We started the I-129F back in November, 2005 ..........had our Montreal Interview April 5 ( and the reason that took so long was because it took me 2 months to get my medical....due to travel etc.......another thread :whistle: ) I got my Maine Drivers License the same day I went in.....just had to have an eye exam, pay $40 and they traded my Newfoundland licence for a Maine one) I got my SSN 2 days after I moved here (well, I had the SSN back in 1971 but never ever knew it or used it) And now we have an AOS Interview already..............not complaining, just bad timing as I will be leaving this Thursday. But it seemed to be take care of thank God!

Just had to share this...........................{{{{{HUGS}}}}}

Please write a letter to your local office requesting rescheduling of your interview.... the 0800 number is not reliable and you may find you will end up getting a denial for failing to attend.... this has happened to many who only called the 0800 number.... is there no way you could fly back for your interview???

In the letter you send to your local office make sure you explain fully why you can not attend....

Good Luck

Kezzie

That's exactly what the lady told me I had to do when I called the 1-800 (her name was Carolyn). But when I told her I was leaving this week she took all the info and said she would send it off for me. She was quite nice. Maybe I should send a follow-up letter as you suggested, just in case? Better to be safe than sorry. And no, there's no way I can fly back unless I miss my Dad's 98th birthday and that would break my heart. Thanks for all your kind words, my friends.....................{{{{{{HUGS}}}}}}.........Joan
