Hey guys its been a long time since I posted here.

I've been in New York with my husband for 6 months now and have a job and a life here. It's amazing!

I'm travelling back to England on boxing day with my husband but I have a few questions about the process-

Which line do I go through in England?

What forms will I fill out?

My husband and I have the same surname but not on our passports- mine is still in my maiden name- does this affect anything?

Anything else you think I should know would be greatly appreciated!

As a UK passport holder you can continue to go through the EU line, however, if you'd rather stay with your husband, you can get in line with him, too. That's what my husband does for me when we go visist.

Regarding your passport, please make sure you show a certified copy of your marriage license if you've changed your name to your husband's name. You may not be asked for it in the UK, but if your green card is in your married name then you will definitely need to present the supporting documentation upon re-entry to the US.

Have a great trip! :star:

We're in England at the minute, our first trip back since we settled down in the US in May 2008. My husband (UKC) went through the EU line and I went through the other line. My husband then came over and waited for me to get through. My passport is in my maiden name as well. I brought my marriage certificate and had no problem at all.

Hubby (UKC) and I plan to take a trip to the UK in March of next year. This info is good to know. I just applied for my US passport so it will have my new name on it so at least that will be one thing less to worry about.

This will be my first time over there so should be fun.

This is very good to know. I don't have much longer on my US passport, and I didn't know if I could still use it since I changed my last name.

Just wanted to add that if you are traveling on AP, when you come back fill out the form that is for visa holders on the plane. The stewardess was totally confused, gave us the wrong one and even the immigration guy was confused, tore it up and we had to fill out another at 2ndary processing. And you can both go through the non-US/gc line when you come back if you have AP. If you have the gc, you both go through the US line.
