Seattle POE

Hi,

well I will finally go to see my man again in September and will be flying in at Seattle-Tacoma International.

Since I had an experience from hell in Atlanta just this passed February I was wondering if anyone could tell me how Seattle Immigration is.I plan on having a freind of ours waiting at the airport as soon as the plane is scheduled to arrive there......just in case.

The reason I got in trouble in February was because I answered the question of whom I was going to visit truthfully with "my boyfriend".Endless questions and an "Interview" at Atlanta Airport followed....Never had any overstays or anything.Haven't even been to the US for 5 years by Feb 2006.......

So,now I'm worried it'll be bad again.........

Also is Seattle a good POE once we get the K1 next year, which we will put the petition for in by October or November?

Thanks for any helpful replies

Maybe THIS page on VJ will help. It gives reviews of POEs (albeit for K1 or K3 entries).

Atlanta is notoriously hideous so I bet you'll be fine.

I may be reading this wrong, but from that chart, it appears Seattle is worse than Atlanta according to the numbers. Correct me if I'm wrong.

Actually I think you're right!

I'm just remembering what Mary's (mianishgsrose) husband went through when he came through on his K1 in Atlanta. They damn near detained him. I think goldenheart's hubby got turned away at Atlanta, too.

Ok, I just wanted to make sure I was reading that correctly. :D

L.A. and J.F.K. look like the ones to avoid while Chicago looks like the best POE according to the sample size.

True! Though I think I'm biased towards O'hare. :)

That said, JFK is about the only one that will issue a temporary EAD stamp, so I think that makes lots of folks use it (for whatever temp EAD is worth).

I went through the Seattle POE a few month back before I was a us citizen and they really gave me a hard time. They looked at my Green card and then told me to walk to another station a few feet away where they asked me lots of questions. One particular question was,

her: so who petitioned you?

me: My uncle

her: your uncle can not petitioned you

me: Well he did, and what do you want me to say about that (I was pissed)

me: Ok here's the story.... My uncle petitioned my dad and I came along with him and the rest of the boat people alright.

her: Alright we are getting somewhere here

me: pissed

her: So can I see your other ID?

me: gave her my license, Work authorization cards, my high school ID, etc. (I was just throwing it randomly)

her: wow look at his license it face horizontally Bob that's really strange (another officer, don't remember his name)

bob: well, ummm... I think it's because he was under 21 when he got that license

her: O really wow

me: Yea you really don't know ###### of what's going on around here now a day do ya, ya old bag (in my head)

me: Oh I sooo stupid (in my head) Thank you Bob

me: so is it cuz of the pic on my green card that's why you guys are questioning me? I mean you let my dad through whithout any questions ask?

I had a skater hair in that picture for the green card then I shaved my head before I went on vacation. The picture was soo bad, they used a low mega pixel web camera to take that one. when they ask for some photos when applying for the green card, it had to be like this and that. Gotta be all perfect. I just shook my head when I saw that low and cheap budget web cam style camera.

her: then she called my dad who was out there waiting for me (sir can you come over here really quick please)

dad: yes

her: who is this young man?

dad: taunting (he doesn't speak much english)

me: I'm his son

her: I didn't ask you

her: ok lets try this again and let him answer it this time ( who is this?)

dad: uhh...my, son

then she finally let us through

So good luck!! Now I'm a us citizen hopefully they'll be more easier on me this time around.

Since places like Seattle, NY, and Chicago are major POE's (international hubs for direct flights) of course they are going to give you a bad time. That's their job. It sucks yes, but at least it keeps us safe. My boyfriend came in through Texas then flew up to Seattle on a VWP but when he comes over again with his Visa, he probably will be coming direct to Seattle. From in the past notes it looks like Boyfriend is a foul word to them...They are always afraid you are going to get married and try and stay...

So I guess the topic comes up again... Should people say Boyfriend/girlfriend or just friend they are coming to see?

Good luck hon. I guess the best thing is that you get in, even if they do question you more than usual. I'm headed off to the UK with my daughter for 3 months...I have all my proof and paperwork, but I don't doubt I will be there for a little longer than usual. :s

Well sorry but if I am reading the POE reviews right than a 0.00 (zero) means NO harrasment and a 10 would be = be prepared for trouble........

maybe I should just go with whatever the Travel Agency has ,flight and connection wise as long as it's NOT ATlanta again.

And heck no this time I will NOT tell them I'm going to see my boyfriend. And since he actually doesn't even know I'm coming and we will be staying at a friends house (which happens to be his best friends wife) I wont even lie to them about it.

Still I am worried since ATL in February.....

I understand the Security Checks and all that and yes it might be a little "dangerous" to let ppl in that say they visit their boyfriend/girlfriend ,but I had return tickets and even train tickets to show that I would go back after 20 days.

Anyways,thanks for the input
